Take a Picture of Your Child Each Day Just in Case...

I came across a great tip for people who will be at Disney with their children. Since most everyone now carries a digital camera, take a picture of your child each morning just in case the unthinkable would happen and they would become lost at the park. If this would happen, you can just flip back to your picture that is saved on your camera's memory card and be able to describe exactly what they were wearing and be able to show others their picture to help you find them. Hopefully you will never need to use the picture to find them, and you will have another great picture to take home with you, this one being good insurance also. Hope this tip helps everyone!!

Wouldn't it be easier to just tell them to go to the nearest stand/store and talk to the CM if they get seperated? Having a picture isn't going to help them know where to go if they become lost. Once you become seperated, all you would have to do is have both you and the child talk to CMs, and you'll be together within minutes.

I don't understand what you are going to do with the picture, is all. If they are wandering around, they aren't going to be easy to find regardless of a picture. Just tell them to talk to the people with the nametags in stores or at carts if they can't find you, and the CMs will take it from there.

the picture is to show to CMs...probably at Guest Relations...
"have you seen my child? can you talk to the rest of MK on your walkie talkies? This is what he's wearing today."
then hopefully he or she is with a CM and they look and say
yay
thats what this kid is wearing.

at least thats how it goes in MY head

of course i suppose if you had a rope arounds his neck...

The idea is in addition to telling your child to find a CM or ask for help. It is much easier to show someone a picture of what your child was wearing than to describe "Red shirt with blue balls on it". Basically, you will never need to use the photo and you will have a nice picture of your day. Take it by a pretty flower bed or with a Disney character, then you will have something to do with the picture, is all. Hope that helps Thrawn!

Ah, I get that. Just make sure they know to talk to a CM, thats the most important part of the process.

I still have a meeting place in case if we get seperated, and I don't have kids. I do it with my wife and my parents. The place is huge. Safety comes first in my mind.

By the time I actually walk into the park entrance I've already taken about 15 pictures of my kids anyway LOL. (Leaving the hotel, in the car, on the tram, on the monorail, in front of the gate, etc.) I'm obsessed with documenting every second of my trip. In fact I will probably never lose my kids because I'm snapping their pictures all day long.

For children who are non verbal.......mine is....I keep her AP on a lanyard pouch around her neck, inside is a business card with our name, her name, our cell phone (always on in parks) and her medical conditions, along with the fact that she is non verbal but can hear and understand.......We asked GR at all 4 parks and they all said that if they were to find her, that is the first place they would look for info if she were lost and not able to talk....BTW, the info faces the inside of the pouch so you can't read it casually....

I absolutely hate it when I come across some lost parents (the kids always know where they are!)--if the kids know to find a CM and talk to them, it's always so much easier to find a CM with a kid than just the kid. Although, I like the picture idea. There's definently a few times where I think that would have helped.

take a picture/know their shoes

Hi everyone, I am new and posting for the first time. Another tip with kids I've heard and supposedly saved a child at Disney is know the shows your child is wearing. It is very easy for someone to swap the kids clothes many tshirts at disney) but shoes are much harder. I heard one child was stopped at the gate with sometrying to take them. Michele

When I was there over winter break, a couple of parents did something BRILLIANT with their child. They made business cards with the boy's name and the parents' names and cell phone numbers, and laminated them. When the boy got lost on Main Street USA, I went up to him (going into CM mode even though I was a guest) and asked if he'd like me to take him to a CM. He said "My mommy and daddy told me to give someone this if I ever got lost." and handed me the card. I called the parents, who met me and my family where we were (because we were in a really obvious location).
This is one of the BEST things I have ever seen!

Ah yes, the urban legend of the disguised kidnap victim.

One thing we do is to write my cell number on my son's arm with a sharpie. I don't have to worry about him losing his arm, so I know he will not loss the number.

I honestly think this is the way to go with all kids. I worked in a special ed school for years and we did this with all the kids everytime we left school property with them....worked wonders when they wandered off. I think all kids, especially in crowded places like WDW, should have identifying info physically attached to them in some way to let anyone know who might find them if they get lost all the important info. I think up until I was 12 or so my mom pinned a "If found, please return to..." card on me in WDW.

Kids knowing how to identify and talk to CMs, police, etc. is really important. Just like it is important for the parents to know what the kid looks like that day. Now that I work in a big department store it is amazing how many parents totally freeze when trying to describe a lost child frantically to us. When I have kids I fully intend to pin their info to them when in places like WDW.

If all else fails, their is always the rope approach...:lookaroun
