Taika Waititi to Direct Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)

It was stock footage. She didn't actually film anything new.
Using cut footage from Thor 2. A movie she only did out of contractual obligation after being displeased with its change in director.

When asked about Thor 3 by Vanity Fair, this was her response:

“As far as I know, I’m done,” she said. “I mean, I don’t know if maybe one day they’ll ask for an Avengers 7, or whatever.”

Nope, she did extra voice acting for the scene. So while it might have been extra footage from Thor 2 she actually had to add to it.

GOTG3 definitely has to have Thor in it, right? So it'll be interesting to see how that movie impacts Thor4 and vice versa.
I’d be surprised if he was a major part of the film.

Gunn turned is script in that is supposed to close out the story of the current GOTG crew, so I can’t imagine he’d have his final script be Thor heavy.

We don't really know what his original script was like. It could have always featured Thor.

I am not speaking in any sort of absolute or finality; I’m speaking based on what I know about the state of both the characters and the filmmakers that are available to us publicly.

I am making an educated guess based on Gunn’s past comments about his plans for Vol. 3, and I can’t imagine this includes sidelining extra time with the original 5 characters to make a Thor/GOTG road movie. I leave open the possibility I am incorrect.

Well remember that Gamora isn't part of the team at the moment, after the events of Infinity War. So even though she's back as of Endgame its the version of Gamora prior to joining the team.

So I have to assume it was always in the cards for Thor to come in and take the place of Gamora until they can convince Gamora to rejoin the team.

Why would Thor be a logical placeholder for Gamora? Because they need 5?

I think it’s more likely the GOTG play a bigger role in Thor 4 than Thor plays in GOTG3. I’m curious if a big part of getting Waititi back was the inclusion of the GOTG, because while I didn’t want to see him finish Gunn’s story, having them be side characters in his Thor film may have been a solid attraction.

Again, go back to Infinity War. It was already setup for Thor to join them. It comic gold seeing StarLord and Thor banter back and forth over who is leading the group.

I know what happened in Infinity War and how Endgame ended. I’ve seen both films and remember them well.

I’m saying that based on Gunn’s past comments about his ambitions for Vol. 3, it would surprise me if Thor was a big player in that film, because it would take focus away from the main cast.

It makes more sense if the GOTG are more involved in Thor 4, since that film doesn’t sound like it’s trying to resolve a specific main character’s story.

Well for all we know at this point, Thor may end up leaving within the first hour of GotG3. Or may stay through the whole thing while they search for Gamora and convince her to come back to the team.

Hemsworth doesn't seem to mind taking a backseat, and has indicated he wants to stay in the MCU for as long as possible. So that may mean that Thor 4 has less Thor and more Jane and Valkyrie.

So we'll see how it all plays out.

I'm not keen on Natalie Portman's involvement. She never really participated in fan events. Maybe because the SW prequels weren't well received or she just didn't want to... she didn't seem to be a good sport about being involved in fandom. The same dynamic happened with Thor.

So, the Jane-Thor story line is bringing her back in. I'm sure it was known such as to convince her to do voice work for Endgame.

It just seems... a little late for her to jump back in and be a team player considering that now the franchise is the biggest cinema gauntlet of all time... bigger now than Star Wars. Rather have actors who seem to be more enthusiastic to be a fan of their franchise.

And, not just Portman, would it hurt any of them to have done TV? Not the premiere mini-series of D+, but just regular TV. Lady Sif and Nick Fury at least did. For the fans and because they're fans... stoop down to lowbrow TV, please.

Since the D+ series all appear to be big budgets, I assume we’ll see a lot more big names having cameos or larger roles in them.

She wants a piece of that RDJ money and I don't blame her who wouldn't? But she didn't exactly seem thrilled to be on stage at comic-con.
Gee...it’s almost like she almost had her career ended by a fantasy franchise or something?

Don’t believe me...she’s said it in her own words for 20 years.

Anyway...can’t wait for “The Fast and the Thorious”...maybe the rock will be the bad guy? 🤪

Bingo...Portman thanked mike Nichols every chance she got for calling her for Closer...because she was a complete pariah at that time. It rebooted her career and got her to the AA level where she can do whatever she wants after.

You do the math...I bet she doesn’t invite George to her birthday parties.

The funny thing about Jane Foster is that by this point in the timeline she's having to deal with the trauma of both having an anthropomorphic raccoon chase her down and jab her with a space-age hypodermic needle to extract the Aethir/Reality Stone from her body....and then mere minutes later having Captain America chase her down and jab her with a space-age hypodermic needle to inject the Aethir/Reality Stone back into her. :D:po_O

And people thought the MCU was just going to be this family friendly franchise, you know because its Disney.

Who knew that Feige actually had a sadistic side.....;):p

Can also blame the Russo's. We knew that Natasha was dead forever because they added the extra pool of blood around her head, while Gamora got the standard Disney treatment.

Well you know with time travel and now the Multiverse being in the MCU no one is dead forever.

Umm....
The Multiverse may exist in the future, but as far as we know it now, it's a lie. Mysterio was using Stark's B.A.R.F. holographic projections to turn himself into a superhero.

That being said....we DO have a Multiverse in the X-men mo....hahahahaaaaaaa haaahhhaaaaaaaa.

I'm sorry. I just can'....X-Me-hahahaaaaaa haaaaaaa.
