Tables in Wonderland being discontinued?

This being the year of ticket changes (No Expiration, Dated/Seasonal 1-Day Water Parks, the weird 4-Park DVC ticket, etc.) as well as DisneyQuest impacting the value of the Fun option In addition to Premium/Premier Passes - I would not be at all surprised if we see a completely retooled ticket product soon. And given the still antiquated paper ticket that is used for Tables In Wonderland, it seems like an easy choice to get the axe.
If you renew by mail you should get plastic buti agree paper is ridic

One way to look at this is that if they extend the number of locations excepting Disney Vacation Club members and Annual Pass Holders a 10 to 15% discount, it would increase the break even point on Tables in Wonderland to at least $1,000.00. This is due to if you spend nothing you would still get half the discount promised under Tables in Wonderland.

Next month I was planning on purchasing a brand new TIW card so it will be interesting to see if I'm able to do that or should I just avoid doing that?

I just renewed mine, (or purchased another I guess is really how it goes) and its good till next August, so I hope they will end up honoring it no matter what they do.

I just read the story on Intercot and they say at the end of this year no more cards will be given out and they also say TIW ends in 2016. Besides next month I'm also going this December so it would still make sense for me to get a brand new one.

Personally I would believe this story to be true if it's ever reported on other sites like The Disney Food Blog.

TIW is being retired in favor of expaning the AP (and PAP specifically) discount programs.

There is a survey being conducted by online research as we speak to determine how to best shape the AP discounts moving forward.. I believe this will actually end up being a positive thing.

The only way it's a positive is if they maintain the same benefits. Are you seriously saying that Disney is planning on giving Annual Passholders 20% off alcohol? I can't see that happening myself.

That's still not 20% off food and alcohol the tables in Wonderland does…

Good. For the price we pay for an AP it should be included in that!
The price you pay for an AP will go up, of course, if this benefit is added.

Basically, current policy allows you to buy your annual park entrance and merch discounts separate from (most of) your dining discounts. If this change happens, you won't get to make separate buying decisions. In addition, in the past you only needed one TiW to cover your whole family. Now the whole family that purchases APs will pay for the dining discounts. As a result, AP holders will be more likely to eat on property, rather than grabbing a meal on 192 on the way.

So, Disney raises the price of APs by, let's say, $40, pointing to the greatly increased dining discounts you get. The person who would have bought TiW saves $100, but pays $40 extra for the AP for him/herself and other family members. The person who wouldn't have purchased TiW now pays $40 more for the AP.

Come to think of it, I can't figure out why Disney didn't do this sooner.

This, if it happens will not drive me over to the dining plan. It will drive me off property for more meals and use the measly DVC discount when we do eat at disney. This actually makes me more upset then a lot of closing a happening in the parks. It's weird I know.

It's amazing how many restaurants are a stones throw on 535 and 192...
