Tables in Wonderland being discontinued?

While that may be okay IF its expanded for passholders, its probably not going to be anywhere as good. They are going to have to do better than a measly worthless 10% they offer at select locations now.....but I doubt it will be as good as the current 20% with TIW. On the one hand sad to see it go, on the other it might be nice to not have to purchase it seperate every year. I guess this will be a wait and see game but sounds like something else for them to louse up and chip away at to offer less discounts and choices.

Like when they 'enhanced' the Premier Passport and Premium AP discounts from 20% to 10%... (Yet at DL the discount is still 20% ...) Yes I can see Today's Disney doing this sort of thing.

Figures I just bought this a few months ago for the first time and am already ahead so what I save in the fall is all a bonus. I got it in May and it's good through June 30, 2016. Hopefully they still offer some kind of discount similar to it if it's going away.

The TIW card is a way to have your tip payed for. It's the way we always used it, which was nice.
This is my main reason for purchasing the card. Have a family of 6 most of the time so 18% gets added already so basically a free too. And eat at 2 or 3 signature dining a vacation so saves money really quick

Over the past twelve months, we have averaged just under $100/weekend dining at WDW using the TiW card. (Kept track on iBank, the iMac's Quicken-equivalent). So unless the replacement gets decent discounts, and keeps the alcohol inclusion, that will be money that gets spent either on our way to, or on our way out from, WDW. There are too many outside eateries (that cost a whole lot less for better food) that removing the card will encourage visiting that leads to the belief that management just doesn't understand how people buy. Yes, you can think that, with the card, you lose 20% of the total (less the price of the card), but getting rid of the card means that, for the most part, you will lose 100% of the bill since I won't be eating there.

There goes my under $4 (with tip) brew at Raglan Road..... :(

I know that some restaurants don't accept the TiW card anymore and there are blackout dates. But dang Disney, this card has been funding cheap adult beverages for me the last two years.

I always saw great value in TIW with my family spending 2 weeks per year in WDW. We still spent a lot of money on food and drink, but that 20% made a big difference. Every TS meal for my family of 3 is over $100.00 and the CS meals were covered in AK. We would easily break the $500.00 mark in 3 - 4 days and start saving. I personally would have no faith in any AP discount matching the saving power of the TIW card. IMHO it would simply be another way to remove or reduce discounts to core guests. I hope this is just a rumor.

I've said in another thread that I'm surprised that the price doesn't go up more often or the percentage drop of what it covers or no more alcohol covered but I never thought it would go away completely. Let's hope it's a rumor and not true. Trying to drive all the business to the dining plan perhaps?

Yes - Remember for the dining plan you have to pay in full when you make your reservation so Disney gets to collect interest on your money as well.

I spoke to Anne at the Tables in Wonderland office the other day and was able to confirm that the program is NOT going away. She had heard the rumors as well, but there is no truth to that. She did seem truly interested in where these rumors were coming from so she could stop them. Marie

I'm certain she said that and believes it, but I imagine the people answering the phone would be last to know

I can but hope. It wouldn't seem to make any sense to discontinue a program that people are paying for that only gets them to come and spend more money on admissions, food etc. I hope that she is right and this program goes on for a good long time. Marie

That's great to hear! I can keep my cheap beer habit. ;)

Perhaps Disney needs to put something on their website? Just saying.

Sand Lake may see some additional business then....
