Tables in Wonderland being discontinued?

I've seen a number of comments around Twitter today suggesting that Tables in Wonderland is being discontinued end of 2016, with the sales of membership being halted after the end of 2015.

Anyone know anything further?

I've said in another thread that I'm surprised that the price doesn't go up more often or the percentage drop of what it covers or no more alcohol covered but I never thought it would go away completely. Let's hope it's a rumor and not true. Trying to drive all the business to the dining plan perhaps?

WHAT THE ?!?!?! nooooooooooooo.....

actually I am a little surprised they haven't pulled the alcohol discounts off of it....

they are making the dining plans a tad more flexible so maybe that's their plan

It's both, since it is only available to a certain class of guests (AP, DVC, FL Res).

It may only be available to AP, DVC and FL res, but would anyone who doesn't fit into 1 or more of these 3 groups find any value in it? I haven't looked into it because we don't go often enough to make it worth it.. but is there a scenario that it is worth the cost if you aren't one of those 3 groups?

Once you spend more than $500 on dining in eligible restaurants in a year, it will net a savings. ($625 if you buy the FL res w/ no AP option). So...maybe?

If you are DVC/AP/FL Resident It gives you a 20% food and alcohol discount at most venues on property, If you eat on property 2x daily and have a party of 4 or more it usually breaks even in a couple of days and as such is usually cheaper than DDP which of course is why TWDC appears to want to make it go buh-bye.

Well at least there will be more openings in the on property venues for the 'Free Dining Crowd' as us DVC folk eat better off property for less money which is sad because at least for us dining used to be part of the experience, However the inner Scotsman says Chan Eil to current Disney food offerings at their current price points where a dinner at Boma can cost up to $64.99/pp+tax, Sorry no thanks.

There have been years where I purchased a single AP for a week long stay with my family to take advantage of 1) resort discounts and 2) T in W. Had it not been for #2, I probably would have just gone with the room-only rates available to the general public. So, it's a little Chicken and Egg...I became an AP because of this perk.

I believe the rumor came about because someone had called The Boathouse and asked about a TiW discount. They were told that TiW was not accepted because it was being done away with in favor of AP and DVC discounts. Not attesting to the validity of the rumor, just what I read....

A regular sized family of 4 or 5 people -- or especially a large extended family with grandparents or aunts/uncles that all eat together -- can easily blast past $500 in food costs for a "typical" week long vacation. It doesn't take too many meals at table service places to make it worthwhile, especially if you order alcohol.

This being the year of ticket changes (No Expiration, Dated/Seasonal 1-Day Water Parks, the weird 4-Park DVC ticket, etc.) as well as DisneyQuest impacting the value of the Fun option In addition to Premium/Premier Passes - I would not be at all surprised if we see a completely retooled ticket product soon. And given the still antiquated paper ticket that is used for Tables In Wonderland, it seems like an easy choice to get the axe.

Absolutely. The break even point is only $500, and if you favor table service meals and enjoy a glass of wine or two with dinner, you can hit that very quickly.

I would hate to see this go away -- the way we eat is well-suited for it, and it saves us a ton of money.

TIW is being retired in favor of expaning the AP (and PAP specifically) discount programs.

There is a survey being conducted by online research as we speak to determine how to best shape the AP discounts moving forward.. I believe this will actually end up being a positive thing.

Please, it is far too early to suggest that something good may be coming out of this. You need to allow more time for the original rumor to percolate so that all pitchforks and torches can be gathered. ;)

While that may be okay IF its expanded for passholders, its probably not going to be anywhere as good. They are going to have to do better than a measly worthless 10% they offer at select locations now.....but I doubt it will be as good as the current 20% with TIW. On the one hand sad to see it go, on the other it might be nice to not have to purchase it seperate every year. I guess this will be a wait and see game but sounds like something else for them to louse up and chip away at to offer less discounts and choices.
