People get stabbed in Crossroads :(

And have you driven through there? It's a nightmare.

Haha, yeah, I have to admit that intersection SUCKS!! Well, the immediate area in general. And shockingly, it was all traffic to/from Disney. But then I guess you probably don't go to Crossroads unless you work for Disney or are a tourist, so.... Well, I guess I was on business (yeah, and you KNOW the only reason I was willing to go to that Convention was b/c it was on Disney property, haha!! - it was great, 2 days of work but I got a week there to play!!)

Anyway, I generally don't go off Disney when I'm there though. Someone else mentioned it being the only thing open. I sorta have a tradition now. If I fly in from Southwest, I basically won't get to my room until midnight-ish and, it being Southwest, I haven't eaten all day. So now it's my tradition to order Domino's. 1st time I stayed at All Star the front desk dude told me that Domino's stays open until like 2 or 3 am or something. So it's what I do every time I get there that late.

Raglan Road QSR (Cookes of Dublin), Earl of Sandwich (AND have left-overs to take home), Bongos outside window (man, those croquetas and papas rellenas are good)... there's a few at DTD to start with.

Nice try, but not even close!

You cannot get 4 sandwiches, 4 orders of fries, 4 drinks, and maybe even some ice cream for under $30 at ANY of the places you mentioned.

Please try to provide HELPFUL information, not MISLEADING information, to those who come here to plan their trip!

Wow... really? Let me do some math here.

Value meals at McDonalds = 7-8 dollars, depending on which ones. 8x4= 32
Sandwiches at earl (which are bigger and heavier than McD's, AND higher quality) 4.95 for cold and 5.95 for hot. drinks are 1.75 and 2.00.
4.95(cold sandwich)+2(drink)=6.95,
5.95(hot sandwhich)+2(drink) = 7.95.

I'm just curious which part of that was misleading? 6.95x4 or 7.95x4 actually seems like LESS than 8x4. Doesn't it? Did I miss a day in math class? Help me out here. I certainly don't want to give anyone some misleading information.

Also, croquetas, empanadas and papas rellenas at the window at Bongos are all under a dollar each... Are you sure you've been to these places?

Once again, please help me fix what is misleading here.

1 papa rellena (.75)
1 empanada (1.25)
1 order of fries (2.00)
and 1 drink (2.00) at bongos... it seems to me that this adds up to 6 dollars, right?
keep me honest here, I need to figure out what part was misleading, after all, we don't want to confuse anyone

I think the other poster was saying that you could feed a family of four for around $30 at those other locations. I don't know about the other two, but you could feed four at Earl of Sandwich, quite tastily, for about $30 the last time I was there. You couldn't get the order you mention specifically, because the Earl doesn't serve fries or ice cream, but everyone would leave well fed and, I think, pleased, assuming they like sandwiches on some of the tastiest bread I've ever had. The sandwiches at the Earl are a pretty decent size--much larger than a McD's burger.

In short, it doesn't seem misleading at all.

EDIT: ImaYoyo does an excellent job of defending his/her original post above me. Includes actual numbers. Probably best to ignore this post, then.

Is this restaurant going to be excepted on the dining plan when it opens? RFC is not included. Also what will happen with Y&Y? Will Y&Y be part of the dining plan?

Now McDonalds also serves many locals that go to DTD to go shopping not just out of town tourists.

THIS IS THE PRIVATE MESSAGE I GOT FROM IMAYOYO.....truly living up to his/her screen name:

"do some homework before you call me a liar. you might want to read my follow up post, and try not being such an ______."

What more really is there to reply to? I never called him/her a liar and the "follow up post" referenced was certainly NOT there when I made my original post, now, was it?

I still maintain that one cannot get 4 sandwiches, 4 orders of fries, 4 drinks, and maybe even some ice cream for under $30 at ANY of the places you mentioned, and their own examples are proving that to be correct.

Families know what they can get (and for how much) at McDonald's. That was the point of my post. They can NOT get the same things - no matter how delicious someone else thinks they are - at another location for the same price! It's mis-leading to tell them otherwise.

Okay, this post isn't going to be helpful at all....

What McD's are you eating where a value meal cost $8? At the ones I go to I would put them at $5-. Do they really jack up the prices that much in DTD?

$5.00 is the cheapest meal here. If you want 5 piecs chicken selects you are looking at $7+ or a premium chicken sandwich is about the same.
Yeah, the value meals on property are jacked up quite a bit. I haven't found the 5 dollar value meal mentioned above. Big Mac meal last I checked was 7.69 +tax.

But to the point, there are options on property that are just as affordable as the Downtown Disney McDonalds, and McDonalds is certainly not a necessity for "value-priced" food.

That being said, I'm impartial either way with the McDonalds. It could stay, it could go. Either way it doesn't matter to me. I stop by there on occasion.

I'll stick with the cold cuts and loaf of bread from publix for that price. There is no way I would pay that for a Big Mac.

Yeah. The only thing I've paid for on the retail side is iced-coffee. They have a cast-cafeteria on the other side which is SLIGHTLY discounted. But it's not that big of a discount to make it normal McDonalds pricing. But every once in a while I get that craving for their fries...:slurp:

I agree, PLUTO, but just so you know what you're dealing with here...

These are more "Private Messages" left for me from IMAYOYO today. Says a lot about the character of a person:

"Sorry, didn't realize you were 12. I certainly would not use such language in front of a child.

You are 12, right? 'cause the posts sure do make you seem that way.

Now go ahead, go run to mommy... post this message in a forum too for everyone to see."

AND

"Oh, and don't forget to put your message in *BOLD* like the rest of your posts. Makes you seem more imporant."

Oh well....

It's being built in the round-a-bout inbetween McDonalds, Fulton's and Portobello (where the Shades of Green bus currently drops off it's guests).

Regarding the above mentioned area....it was where DTD Valet was located before 9/11/01

As for TREX location, I'll leave YoYo to be in charge.

But where else at WDW can you feed a family of 4 for under $30???

That McDonald's at DTD is essential for many families' visits to WDW, whether because they have picky youngsters who only eat McD's burgers and fries with orange drink, or simply because they are on a budget.
That helps explain its popularity. McDonald's is as much a culutural icon as WDW and they actually go quite well together!

I'm not in either of the groups mentioned above, but still venture in there at least once or twice per trip for something or other that just sounds good at the time!

P.S. McFlurries RULE!

any parents that simply let their kids eat only fast food need to worry about more then just money how bout their kids dieing before them because of obesity
