When I was working in the Emporium in Magic Kingdom, I saw a woman with sword in the stone pins. Archamedes, Madame Mem, Merlin, etc. I could not find them ANYWHERE!!! And i love them and i want them, and my life is incomplete without them. ( lol )

where can i get them!

also.. the dvd comes out tomorrow yay!!!

I love The Sword In The Stone. The famous battle at the end between Merlin and Madam Mim is one of my all time favorite Disney scenes. I also love the heartbreaking scene with Wart/Arthur and the young female squirrel.

The Sword In The Stone is one of Disney's most underrated films IMHO.

I appologize ahead of time for potentially offending anyone, but that statement about having to have those pins is like the epitome of American consumerism. It kinda makes me feel kinda sick. Theres so many better things to spend money on that i can think of than buying overpriced metal pins with pictures of Disney characters. I understand wanting a sovineer or two, but like what does that do for you when you have a bazillion pins? It just seems like people obsess over these things. Not you specifically, but i mean people who collect these pins in general. Maybe if you had enough pins and they let you into Disney for free, then it would be worth it. But doesn't it seem like a waste of time and money? I mean, those things are so expensive! Once again, please don't take me wrong. I don't understand. Whats so appealing about these pins?

Why does anyone collect or want anything outside of their basic needs? Some people spend money on DVDs, some on books, some on ring tones, others on music, clothes or going out to restaurants etc. It is a simple case of tastes and preferences. In a free market society people are at liberty to spend their personal disposable income on whatever they choose. The simple answer is, that is what they want to buy. I do buy 2 or 3 on a trip, the reason is b/c I want to and can. :shrug:

The reason I collect pins is because the same part of my brain that is stimulated by Disney animation and imagineering(especially the architecture/design aspect of it) is also stimulated by the fantastic design elements found in Disney pins. Simply put, they are beautiful and very appealing to the eye. I don't look at pins as merely "trinkets" or "toys", I look at them as genuine works of art. Somewhere someone poured their heart and soul into designing those pins, in the same way a painter or a sculptor pours his or her heart and soul into their works of art. By admiring and even purchasing these pins we are not just "aquiring stuff" we are celebrating the creator's God given ability to design something that will move us and trigger a myriad of emotions in us.

Pin collecting is also a neat way to create memories and give you something tangible to look at and reminisce over. I have very fond memories of my wife and I seeing a beautiful pin for the first time and admiring it enough to want to add it to our collection.

Most people have a hobby and for a large majority of people that hobby is based around collecting something, whether it be stamps, license plates, baseball cards, action figures, comic books or even Disney pins. Collecting SOMETHING has become a big part of our culture whether it's right or wrong.

Pin trading also creates some great opportunities for social interaction and can lead to learning more about our fellow man and possibly making new friends.

WOW Fizzle, very well said. I'm not really much of a pin collector, but I do have a few special pins that bring back favorite memories. I never really stopped to think about the artistic element of the pins, but you're so right.

As was said before, why does anybody do anything beyond basic needs? I collect pins, to a point. They have to appeal to me, and they have to be "Special" (limited editions, DVC/AP only, that sort of thing).

Why? Because I enjoy it. It's as simple as that. The $200 or so a year I spend on it (rough estimate of 2 pins a month on average) is a hobby. So people collect stamps, some bowl, some go out drinking.

Without being offensive, you stated you can think of so many better things to spend money on. Would you like to list a few? I'll bet that if you list 10 things that are "better" to spend money on, I will agree with some of them and disagree with others. Any you know what, everyone on this board will disagree with you and me to different extents. It's because we are all people, and we are all different.

These are really nice Sword in the Stone pins. My good friend who works as a CM just sent them to me, he found all but Merlin, and is going to try and get it for me. I didn't even know these were out, it was a nice surprise.

I have a few others from The Disney Store they released for Sword in the Stone, and in WDW I got the state pin (New Hampshire) I believe that had Wart pulling the sword free.

I also really like the Disney dragon ones, they are the same design like the Sword in the Stone ones, but are of Malecifent dragon, Ellio, The Reluctant Dragon and Mushu. He sent me those as well, just need Mushu now.

As you can tell, I really like the Disney fantasy films. (I know they are all fantasy in a way, but I meant swords and dragons and the such.)

i didnt know they had pins like that. wow ill have to look next time. i love to collect pins because i dress up my catholic high school uniform with them, and so does alot of kids in my class. i love to collect them becuase i love to put them in the binder i bought and share the story on how i got it

Once and Future King, correct? I love that book, but I forget who wrote it. There was a sequel of sorts called The Book of Merlin, I think it was basically lost chapters, but it had a part where when King Arthur was old and war was about to break out with Morded, Merlin changes him to an animal once more, a goose. He learns about war here and how only humans wage war on one another, and when he becomes human he tries to prevent war but, if I remember correctly, dies doing so.
