Swan

Does anyone know what the discount is for teachers at the Swan? I also heard there is a senior discount. We are starting to plan our trip and we've never stayed at the Swan, because we didn't think we could afford it. I looked online, but couldn't find any prices/discounts. Has anyone heard of this or used it?

Thanks ! Great site. I put in our dates, but they're not taking July 2008 yet. But I did put in some June dates and got a $159 rate. That's cheaper than the moderates, so that's pretty good. :)

you can also check out allearsnet.com for the link to the teacher rates. I think it can be a great deal. We got the rate one year for government employees (same as teachers) and you are right, it cannot be beat. Good luck.

I know they are basically exactly the same, but might I recommend going for the Dolphin instead? The walk to the main pool is a bit closer, the only 24 hour convenience store / quick food restaraunt is located in the Dolphin, and the lobby is a bit nicer. For the same discount, why not take the Dolphin?

AND I don't know if you've stayed at them before, but they are well worth it, especially for the discounted price. I know they get criticized occasionally for their design, but they have the most comfortable beds on the entire resort in my opinion, have that great EPCOT/MGM/Boardwalk location (boat/walk to any of them), and are just great resorts, particularly with the discount, as I mentioned.

Enjoy your trip, and if you have any other questions with those resorts, feel free to ask or PM me

Remember, to get the discount you must book thru the Swan/Dolphin and not another agency (at least according to the info I've received).

Thanks everyone ! I'll do some more research and look into the Dolphin. My parents are going with us and even though they get a senior discount, it's not as good. I wonder if I can book 2 rooms on my teacher discount?

Great ! Now, there's only one thing holding me back - we can't do the dining plan if we stay at the Dolphin. I just read that on the site. :( I didn't realize that until now. I knew the transportation was there, I assumed the dining plan was offered, too.

I was delighted to book my reservations for the Dolphin at the AAA rate of $179/per night....after reading this thread and following the link, I called and was able to get the nurses rate of $149 on my previous reservations!:)

Wow! Thanks you for the tip!

Also remember that there is no charging back to your room at the parks and shops, and you will also be charged to park you car (if you have one along) -
the rates are - Self parking @ $9 per day (plus tax), Valet @$12 per day (plus tax), and overnight @ $16 per day (plus tax) (unless fees have changed).

No, not that I know of. Swan and Dolphin are the only ones.
Also, Swan and Dolphin offer senior discounts, which I think Disney should offer. Disney should also offer a senior ticket price. Most senior bring family with them and many seniors over 80 can't ride the roller coasters. (even though my 70+ parents do :ROFLOL: )
I wish Disney would consider some teacher/nurse/military discounts like the Swan/Dolphin.

Thanks...I wish they would offer the discount too! My dad is a teacher and I have a friend in the military.

Does your friend know about Shades of Green, the deluxe resort on Disney property that is owned by the Department of Defense? As a military member he/she is entitled to stay there. He/she can also sponsor up to 3 additional rooms for non-military friends or family. I just stayed there for 5 nights in March. The rates are less than Disney's value resorts, and are based on the serviceperson's rank. Here is the website: http://www.shadesofgreen.org

If you have any resort specific questions, feel free to PM me since I just stayed there. Have fun with your planning! :)

So if you're actually staying at the resort, it's $16 to park your car, since it will be there overnight? That's ridiculous.

The $16 is for overnight valet, it is $9 for self parking overnight which is still cheaper than self-parking in downtown Chicago overnight. It is still $9, but that is what you get when an insurance company owns a hotel (Starwood, which operates all Sheraton and Westin properties, is only the management company).

Even tacking on 9 dollars per night, so what, it's now $159 per night. Still an amazing deal and you're still getting all the amenities of a deluxe resort at a moderate resort price.

I too would definitely recommend the dolphin over the swan. Don't forget about the brand new refurbs that just took place there, and btw 159 for june is excellent.
