lots of info to weigh here, any advice info appreciated
we have 2 adults, 3 kids (all 3 - 9)
we have been to POR 3 times already
we love DDP but have gotten it free or kids free tickets last 2 years but without those discounts big expense for us.
we are teachers so can qualify for teacher discount at Swan
EMH is very important to us
will drive there so have to pay for parking at Swan
i know we have to run the numbers but wondered about the intangibles like Disney feel, perks at Swan vs POR etc, or any extra fees at Swan
any pros or cons to help us decide really appreciated
thanks

stay at Riverside.

There. Problem solved :)

Seriously, if it were just you and your SO, no kids, I may say go for the Swolphin. But I'd say you're better off in an official Disney resort. Plus, even with the teachers' discount, I'd suspect paying for parking will almost bridge that gap. But hey, you can always drive over and visit them, since you have your car.

Otherwise, there's always the option of splitting up the trip, half in one, half in the other.

I'm not sure if it matters to you but the Dolphin has a nice exercise room.

The Swan and Dolphin both have separate lap pools.

Since you're bringing your own vehicle, S/D charges $15/day for self-parking, $20 for valet. Also, internet, bottled water, health club, limited local & US long distance is included in the daily $14 "resort fee".

At POR, the rate you see is the rate you get. Internet is free WiFi in the common, public areas or $10/day for wired in your room. Parking is free too.

is the charge for a 5th person for adult or would it include children?
we have 2 adults and 3 kids going.
I just called the Swan & Dolphin reservation line. You can sleep 5 at the Dolphin only. A roll-away bed is $25/night. However, you do NOT have to get the roll-away bed. The women I spoke with said it was acceptable for the 5th person to sleep on the floor, just bring your own blow-up mattress or sleeping bag.
