Having just returned from yet another trip to WDW, I was interested by this thread. It brought back memories of an incident I encountered, posted about and ultimately drove me from this forum for a while. I'm going to stay out of this one but I will say my past experience kept me from going into Philharmagic. I just didn't want to relive that again. :shrug:

Look I do not care people are overly paranoid.
What is next the will blow up my car because it is parked too close to Planet Hollywood?
Give me a break you can stuff more than enough explosives in a trunk to cause real damage.
Like the guys inspecting backpacks and bags when you enter a park if you were a terrorist and had a nice big bomb in a backpack when say the Magic Kingdom is opening you can cause all sorts of damage both human and property.

rather than blast apart your theories about the democracy catch all called the Bill of Rights, I'll skip the whole polictical discussion since, after all, this is a forum about the Happiest Place on Earth. 
Everyone has their opinion on terrorism and living your life in a bomb shelter. Nobody is saying that you basically run and hide and stop living like an American, but also don't be foolish and just act like its just another day. Pretending that things will never happen to you and that the government is right on top of things is ludicrious.
If I may quote from Jaws, you are the Mayor of Shark City and you are no doubt going to ignore this problem until it swims up and bites you on the @ss one day.

I read your thread and I would have done/thought the same thing.
I'm telling you right now, I expect Disney and everyone else to be on the lookout for anything suspicious. You just never know when or where something like this is going to happen. I had rather them take things like this seriously and take care of it than have my family, or anyones else's, hurt because of some bitter employee or worse.
Do you realize how bad it would have looked if Disney did nothing and it did explode? What if they knew about it, and nothing was done, and someone in your family was hurt, or worse? I say it's better to be safe than sorry.

I am a firm believer in better safe than sorry...here's why...
I used to work on a cruise ship. One day I got a call at the Front desk saying that there was a tour bus waiting to take our American passengers away and it had a bomb on it.
the port we were stopping at was outside the city or any attractions and you are pretty much required to take a bus to get out of the port (taxi's weren't allowed into the port area)
Other than staying on the dock, everyone on board would be getting on one of the busses.
I ran to my captain and relayed the message. He quicky had a meeting with the heads of dept on the ship and they decided not to risk anything and to head to another port.
An anouncement was made to the ship and several passengers were very angry. We explained why we were not allowing them off the ship and that we would be docking at an alternate port in a few hours but many passnegers wanted to see an attraction near THIS particular port and demanded to be let off the ship.
We arranged a meeting with any passanger who still wanted off and the captain. he met each family one by one and explained and evry family except for one agreed to stay on board
The one family that didn't were a young couple in their 30's with twin boys age 4 or 5 and an infant. The Captain begged them to stay on the ship but they said they would call austorities here and in the States because they were being held captive.
Legally all the Captain can do is give them a warning so he allowed them to leave and I personally gave them all the information on how to get to our next two ports so they could meet up with the ship and continue the cruise (they still had 9 nights left with us)
We never saw the family again.
I have no idea what happened to them and locals would not confirm whether a bus was bombed or not.
So if Disney wants to err on the side of caution just tell me where to go to stay out of their way because I'm not going to be that person who thinks "This is my vacation damn it and nothing is going to happen!!!!!"

I've got absolutely no problem with this. It's a pretty sad fact that our country is to the point of having to fear everything--even in such a wonderful and magical place like WDW..but as many people have said, 'better safe than sorry'.

i heard that "bomb detection and diffusement" is one of the features of the Wall-E robot they are going to have wandering around the parks....
