With regards to the fire making challenges you cited, that's pretty anecdotal. Wendell and Dean are just physical specimens, they excel in those types of situations. Kara was just not a great player overall. Put Parvati against Adam in a fire making challenge and I suspect we may see a different outcome. We just haven't really seen a great athletic female player be put in a fire making challenge yet, at least not that I remember. But the forced fire making challenge at F4 is relatively new, we just don't have enough data points yet to confirm your theory. However, even if what you're saying is true, women need to just take on that role going forward knowing that it could determine their game at a later point. Same thing with the idols.. just hanging back at camp isn't an acceptable excuse. The idols are out there, everyone knows that. So go find them.
I think that's easier to say than do with the year upon years of gender roles we've assigned, but this is jot the thread to get into that debate.

And these thoughts are not mine directly. They are the thoughts of countless women players I've heard and listened to over the years. These are stories and perspectives coming directly from their mouths on RHAP, Twitter, and web articles.

Okay... I was thinking about this season this morning. I was thinking how as it currently stood, it probably wasn't going to be a top 5 season for me. After tonight, that may have changed. This has to be one of the best episodes ever. Unfortunate result, but fantastic episode. My thoughts...

1. That was a great family visit. I'm not going to go as far as some, saying it's the best ever, but it was definitely up there. It was a nice way to pay respect to these players who have given so much. And that was a good EoE scene - without a doubt the best one ever. So many great stories coming full circle. Tyson in 18 being an arrogant guy who liked seeing others cry to having a family of his own and doing a great job at being a father. Rob and Amber having their kids come out and see where their family all started. Kim played her first time as a recently divorced woman, and now she has a family. Jeremy with his Val moment in 31, to now having that boy on the beach, along with another one. So great.

2. If you didn't catch it, you need to go back and watch. But during the credit when the jury went and hugged Jeff. That was awesome. It showed how much the show respects the players, and how much they respect Jeff and the show.

3. That rope seemed longer and like it had a lot more slack than previous times they've run it.

4. Who would have thought Tony would finally win his first individual immunity on that challenge?

5. Jeremy was 100% the target. If it wasn't, the other group would not have had to huddle. Wise of him to leave. And he was able to show exactly where the lines are drawn. And Sarah would have stolen a vote anyway, so they still would have had the numbers. Shannon Guss (formerly Gaitz) asked a good question. What happens if Sarah stole Jeremy's vote, then Jeremy bailed Tribal Council?

6. I hate that my favorites are mostly on the side without the numbers all the time. Kim, Michele, Jeremy, Tyson, and Denise are some of my favorites. But I also love Sophie. And Tony. It's heartbreaking during most votes this season.

7. Kim was so calm and collected during a crazy Tribal Council. Bold of her not to play her idol on herself. I was begging her to play it on herself.

8. Why wouldn't the majority have cast 3 votes for Tyson and 3 votes for Denise? The 4-2 split doesn't make sense. Do I have that wrong?

9. I kind of hope Tyson comes back again and stick it to them. But I also know that nobody should come back in at the final 6 and have a shot at winning. Especially when Tyson was voted out twice.

10. Sarah is a great player. I don't think she gets enough love, but I honestly think she's one of the best players ever. I don't think it translates on TV, but she is always making the right moves and knows exactly what's happening. Sarah and Sophie are an incredibly dangerous duo. I think Sarah will get the credit over Sophie, so Sophie needs to cut Sarah at some point. I'm not sure that will happen, though.

11. Did anybody catch that original Russ Landau music during Jeremy's family visit? That was so nostalgic for me, and I loved it. I miss Landau and the music he brought. It was classic. We barely get any of that anymore.

Here are my updated tiers for who could win if they get to the end:

Front Runners: Jeremy, Sarah, Sophie

Strong cases, but would have a hard time against the others: Michele, Denise, Kim, Tony

Probably not: Ben, Nick

Seriously, I would crash and burn if I was ever on a season with Kim. She is so charming. I would fall into her spell in a second. You seriously need to go follow her on Twitter. She has been responding to people on Twitter, and it's pure gold.

You all know I love me some Parvati and am super charmed by her, but Kim is right there, too.

Glad that three advantages got flushed at one tribal!

This might be the last season of whispering and sidebars at tribal. Tribal should be where Jeff gets people to talk and show what is going on during the game. Tonight, he looked he was watching a tennis match!

Yeah I'm not a big fan of the whispering at tribal. I'm also not a fan of the Jeremy/Sarah stalemate. I wonder how long that actually took. Jeff needs to do a countdown or something and say "I'm going to count to 3 and then no advantages can be played. 3 2 1, time to vote."

I'm over the whispering, too. Especially tonight when it looked like it wasn't going to matter coming in. Everyone knew the plan, and the initial whispering did not change anything. Granted, there was probably a lengthy discussion before hand that got people unsure, but still. It would have been more interesting for the group of 5 to figure out a plan in front of everyone else, without being able to go behind the torches. I'm not sure how Jeff reels that back in, though. At the start of the season he would have to say, "Hey guys, there's getting up and moving around at Tribal Council this season." But I doubt he'd do that. Producers love it, and they love to advertise it as a live Tribal.

But now, many of the challenges include a puzzle component. And the ones that don't seem to favor those who weigh less (i.e. balance/agility or holding yourself up on a pole). I mean I'm not sure what else can be done to make it 50/50 between men and women? I remember in the past they had challenges that were pure memory challenges which were kind of cool. Not sure why Survivor did away with those.

A lot of the challenges have gotten pretty 'same-y'. Perhaps thats to do with being literally in the same location now for such a period of time.

But the team challenges are all pretty much an obstacle course with a puzzle.

What ever happened to the food auction? I really miss that.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.

Food auction - yes.
Gross food challenge - no. 🤮

Jeremy's advantage could have played extremely terribly in front of the jury. I think for a second it almost did.

But, I assume everyone including the jury will acknowledge he probably would have went home over Tyson and thus it was the correct move. Albeit Kim may have more aptly played the idol on him.

Nick also rubbed me the wrong way. People were not "Not playing survivor" because you were on the losing end a few weeks in a row.

The food auction was fun but it made more sense when the players weren't getting much food. Now, the players are coddled in comparison to the early seasons.
