Survivor: Palau

Ian's such a good boy. I'm glad he did what he did, because it showed what kind of character he has as a person. And he and Tom are still friends, which says alot about both of them.

Final vote tally wasnt much of a shocker: 6-1 Tom. That darn Coby always has to be different

Actually, the final vote came as a shocker to me. Since I had to work last night and miss most of the final episode (boo hoo), I cheated and went to Surviorsucks and they indicated that the final vote would be 6-1 but that the single vote came from Ian.

I got home in time to see the last fee minutes of Janu and Katie bashing it out. Then on to the vote. When I saw Coby write down Kat, I really thought the predictions were going to be dead wrong.

Now, how long do we have to wait for Survivor 11? I guess Big Brother will be starting soon and that's a good replacement for the summer. But somehow, just not the same.

Probst said "This fall" so its a Survivorless summer :(

They did show some other show starting June 1...I just can't remember what it was

Were you keeping up with that spoiler thread on Survivorsucks? Can't help but wonder who that leak was

So what exactly happened with Ian? I didn't even realize the finale was last night until I was flipping through the channels and caught the reunion on.

I didn't see it coming either, but it shows tremendous character by Ian to do that, not stupidity. You can't put a price tag on integrity and self-worth and Ian did just that. He may have lost a shot at a million dollars, but he gained a lot more than that.

Oh yeah, I totally agree. I was just shocked when he did it. Like I said, I didn't see that one coming. I've always said in all of my previous posts that Ian has a great heart, and that proves it even more.

Almost 12 hours into the final challenge....long after Katie already quit....
Ian told Tom He would quit if Tom promised to take Katie instead of him to the final two.

The funny part is that Tom had offered to take Ian to the final two, many hours earlier if he would quit the challenge and Ian refused.

That may go down as the most expensive demonstration of "good character" in the history of reality TV. But at least He can always sell his Corvette!

Agreed! Hope they have a great cast! I get so tired of the islands...after a while, they all look the same (even though I haven't kept up with Survivor as long as some people, I think Pearl Islands has been one of best island seasons ever). But Guatemala looks great! I got all excited when they said the survivors will have to live in the ruins! How cool! :sohappy:

Survivor Outback (season 2) was inland and not an island. Also, it's out on DVD (again, because I got it along with the first season years ago, along with the soundtrack) and they are acting like this is the first time it's out. I also got the 6-disc All-Stars season on DVD.

As far as Guatemala, I didn't watch the reunion show yet, but just from the sound of it, it's going to be awesome.

And with them living in the ruins, that means they get to start with shelter, so at least they have something to start with. (If I'm understanding this correctly. I'll have to watch the show tomorrow when I have time.)

I, for one, never said all the seasons have been on islands. Even though I just started keeping up with Survivor since Pearl Islands, I was very aware of Outback, as I favored Ethan (even though I didn't really keep up with it much). I don't know of anyone that's making it seem like this is the first time it's ever been off the islands...but I do know it's the first time since at least Pearl Islands. I just meant I was sick of the islands because since I've been half-way keeping up with it, the show's been on islands, so I've been wanting a change of scenery.

I have a friend and he's upset about the next one not being on an island, he's afraid he won't see the girls in the bikinis as much

In a way, all of the final four win.

4th $50,000
3rd $75,000
2nd $100,000
1st $1,000,000

Yes, Ian may have step off requesting Tom take Katie to the final 2, but he still walked away with $75,000 (less taxes). For 39 days of work, that's not too bad!

That's cool..I didn't realize 3rd and 4th got $$$ too.

I never would have predicted what Ian did, and I have to say it was one of the saddest moments this show has ever seen. Here's Ian, a young guy who wanted nothing more than for everyone to be "friends" again giving up his chance so that they'll like him again. How sad and how naive.

Katie complained at one Tribal Council that Ian told her about the plot to boot Gregg too late for her to consider her options. Consider her options? The other option presumably being the booting of Caryn, Tom, and Ian. Ian owed Katie nothing, and the fact that she bullied and bullied him (all the while plotting his and Tom's demise) made me want to :hurl:

Ultimately, Ian did not have the emotional maturity required to play this nasty game. Katie, and Tom to a lesser extent, preyed on that. I'm glad Tom won, because he otherwise played a solid game. I'm disappointed that Ian didn't stick up for himself better, and I hope Katie crawls back under the rock from whence she came.

That's it...you hit the nail on the head. I thought Katie made a pact with Greg and Jen also, when they went on the yacht.

I'm not a huge survivor fan but my high school has been going survivor crazy since the guy that one went to the school (archbishop molloy, in queens NY). I'm hoping maybe he'll make some kind of donation, lol.

No, I hadn't been to survivorsucks since the original Survivor. I only went there because it was mentioned (I think by you) in this thread and I knew that I would miss most, if not all, of the show.

Meanwhile, survivorsucks has changed a lot in the past 5-6 years! It used to be one person writing comentary and if you had a scoope, you sent in an email. I had a really hard time finding a post that had actual info instead of just people guessing.

I really think it's funny how a lot of people guessed the winner because of back ground songs or little things people said in the first episode.
