I do like Angie, I hope she goes far. I like Tom on the other team also, i'm just afraid he'll have a target on his back once they merge. I still say they need to have a Survivor where the winning team gets to vote one of the other team off. That would change things up a bit. They wouldn't know who's aligned with who or who works hard, they would just be voting off who they think the best competitor is. I keep hoping they'll do something like that.
That would make for a great twist. Good idea!

Sad that everything on Survivor is purely scripted and SEVERELY edited just like all these other so called "reality" shows. Mark Burnett even admitted to reshooting scenes on the show for better "angles." He has also told people to recreate conversations and fights. Also the producers instigate rivalries and such by talking to the contestents off camera. I guess this is a "ratings worthy" show. haha I honestly don't know a single person who watches a show because of the ratings and the people who do are the same people that follow all the trends and try to be like everyone else and do what's "in" at the time. Sad....truly sad. Reality televison? I think not! *toodles*

I understand that and I just can't stand people who think good ratings = a good show and bad ratings = not! That is just ignorant...

Different strokes dude... deal with it. Just because somebody likes something you don't doesn't mean that they're ignorant.

Get over yourself.

I'm talking about great shows that were cancelled because of reality television like Firefly, Dead Like Me, Freaks and Geeks....ect ect
Freaks & Geeks, one of the greatest shows ever, was not cancelled because of reality TV. It was cancelled because then President of NBC Programming, Garth Ancier, didn't understand or appreciate the show. He killed it through lack of promotion and random scheduling.

I guess the smaller minded majority of America prefer to watch people make complete fools out of themselves just to get on tv.
Maybe if I work really really hard my mind will get bigger, and someday my head may be as big as yours!

I wrote my high school history senior paper on the oxymoron that is reality tv.

Yet I still love it. And it was a great paper.
That's cool!

So reality tv is a scripted series that gets better ratings that supposed good scripted shows that didn't get ratings? So why wouldn't TV execs not choose reality tv?

Those were two of the toughest, most grueling challenges they've ever had. They have really ratcheted up the physical aspects of the game this year. I think the producers got tired of the recent trend of dumping the strongest people first.

I agree, GenX. That immunity challenge was very grueling. Thing is, though, that both Tom (NYC Firefighter) and Ian (dolphin trainer) are very well conditioned. Tom is trained to lift 150lbs of dead weight thru heat and Ian is in water all day long. That makesthe loss of Jeff is a huge one for Ulong.

I can see them riding Tom and Ians strength till individual immunity comes up. Then they will want to dump the strongest first.

I can't believe I fell asleep for the first half of the show. I haven't been feeling very good and even though my husband woke me up before the show started, I fell back to sleep and didn't wake up towards the very end of the immunity challenge. Was there very much I missed the first 30 min? Anything else that was good that you want to fill me in on?

Thanks GenX!!!

Even with Jeff's injury, my vote would ahve been for Kim b/c I am not feeding a mouth belonging to a tribesmate who does nothing. Remember lst week she did not even partake in the challenge, refusing to go under, and she does not help out around the camp.

I thought it was Jeff's saving grace when he was able to cut through the coconut with one strong swoop.

I still like that Stephanie a lot!! She is one tough women who does not give up and is a strong motivator.

Lisa, I agree. When I saw what they had to do, I knew that Tom's group would win because of the dead weight issue. I think Ian might be smart enough to fly under the radar when we get down to individual immunity. He seems like a very smart player. That is a tight group since they have not lost yet and couldn't pick a rep for the group (based on previews).

Let me see if I can remember what happened in the first 30 minutes. Well there was:
1. Kim complaining about the questions Probst had asked during Tribal Council, as though she shouldn't be subject to such grilling about her relationship with Jeff. Has she ever seen this show before?
2. Kim not working around camp. Again, has she ever seen this show before?
3. Over at the Old Team, Katie and Caryn were bickering over trifles. Hunger and sleeplessness will do that.
4. At the Reward Challenge, they had to, one member from each team, swim out to get a single life saver. Whichever person could be touching the life saver and their team's base out in the water won. Best 3 out of 5. The rules were minimal - no punching - but almost anything else was fair game. Tom and (Bobby Jon? Jeff?) went out first. Tom got the life saver and put it around his waist. The younger guy grabbed the life saver and pulled it and Tom toward's his team's base and was ultimately successful. The next two were women (Stephenie and Katie?). They splashed each other with water and the young team won again. The third time, they sent out pairs from each team. The guy from the young team got to the life saver. Angie the Tattoo Lady proceeded to attack the other team by dunking them (Janu and Gregg, I think). She was very successful. Young team wins reward - sewing kit and fabric. Finally, Tattoo Lady will have clothing so the editors don't have to keep pixilating her privates.
5. At the Old People camp, Tom/Ian/Gregg kill a couple of snakes with sticks and the machete. They think about eating the snakes, but decide to use some of the snakes as bait for sharks. I'm not making this up. They drop snake parts and blood in the water, and as the sharks swim up to eat, Tom and Ian attempt to spear them. They fail miserably.
6. Over at the Young camp, Jeff gets up in the middle of the night and steps on a coconut. He twists his ankle and seals his fate.

Then, we get to the Immunity Challenge were Tom proves that he truly is the man among boys.

I think it's hilarious that Ulong keeps winning rewards but still keeps showing up at Tribal. Despite Jeff's strength, the ankle was plenty of reason to let him go... especially when they told him to. Kim will be out at the next Ulong Councel. I don't like Koror not picking a rep though... that means Jeff picks. And if it IS a player swap they will not like who Jeff picks...

Thanks GenX for the recap of the evening. I think I'm liking Stephanie a little more each time. She seems to have the drive it takes for this game....I'm really ready to see Kims name written down to go bye bye. I can't stand to watch these people go on the show just for exposure and do very little work. Watching Steph in the last challenge I had to respect her motivation. She wasn't one of my favorites in the beginning but the more I see of her and her dedication I realize I am rooting for her more and more. Too bad she's not on Toms team, I like both of them. Thank Goodness Angie has the means now to cover up a little

Thanks again!

Another great episode. The challenges were very interesting, and the prize for winning the reward challenge - the shelter - was the best. reward. ever.

Not much of a surprise that they got rid of Kim. She didn't seem too upset by it, though. Rather than hanging around camp doing nothing, she gets to spend the next couple of weeks at Loser Lodge with the last bootee, Jeff.
