Survivor Caramoan: Fans vs Favorites

The tooth thing was just just Brenda being a Biotch. She never said I will give you my vote if you show everyone...it was pure spite to embarrass her as revenge for whacking her out. She kinda said that.

Cochran played the perfect game. He let someone else take the social hit while orchestrating everything. He had the perfect alibi for it by playing up Dawn's lunacy and paranoia. He talked the perfect game the whole way and especially in the final Tribal. And then brought the 2 finalists with him that would ensure victory. Eddie was going to be his only possible challenger.

I did love how everyone was dismissing Sherri and basically not even talking to her. And she is supposed to be this big shot business woman, but couldn't talk to them at final tribal...just stuttering and stumbling her way through.

In my estimation, one of the best seasons in quite a while. Great from start to finish.

Here's another, more detailed article about Brandon's banning from the reunion show:
(From examiner.com)

"The finale of Survivor Caramoan airs Sunday, and fans want Survivor spoilers. Thanks to Russell Hantz and his Twitter page, fans now have a heads-up that Brandon Hantz apparently will not be at the reunion. Reality Blurred covered the details on May 10.

There had been some buzz about whether Brandon Hantz would be at the Survivor finale given how he exited this season in Caramoan. However, that was all speculation until his uncle, Russell Hantz, started ranting on Twitter. As fans know, the Hantz family can sure go after one another when they're angry, but they usually come to one another's defense in times of trouble with others as well.

Russell Tweeted spoilers that Brandon will not be at the reunion, and he blames that on Philip Sheppard. Supposedly Philip is “scared” of Brandon, so someone in charge made the choice to ban Brandon Hantz from the Survivor finale reunion. Russell, however, claims that he will be there and he even says he has been in touch with a lawyer preemptively because he is threatening physical harm to Philip.

Many viewers have been critical of the decision to bring Brandon Hantz back to the show this season as it is. Blocking him from the reunion is a first for the franchise, and certainly there is more to it than Philip being afraid. Have Jeff Probst and CBS finally learned their lesson about the Hantz family? While they have their fans, the majority of fans seem to prefer other veterans or fresh faces over more Hantz family drama.

However, some worry that this is all part of a set-up for what is rumored to be an upcoming season featuring family partners competing. All of this Hantz drama would be a natural set-up for bringing them back in a new season, given the show's history. Most are hoping, however, that the Hantz family may be crossed off the potential contestant list once and for all. Are you surprised to hear that Brandon Hantz was banned from the Survivor: Caramoan reunion? "

I am wondering if the change in format for the reunion show was a reaction to this. By not having any of the non-jury people on stage it avoided any awkward questions about why Brandon wasn't there.

That's what I was thinking. We're the rest of the contestants even there at all? Like Francesca or Shamar?

The reunion show was a mess! Not one word from Erik about his injury but we did get to hear a question from a little girl with braces.

That was my guess as well. They've never done this before with jurors/winners only on stage, and apparently the decision to yank all the non-jurors from stage was made last week during a dress rehearsal...right around the time all the Brandon & Russell drama was hitting the ceiling fan.

So I had to stay out of the thread until I watched the finale - which I just finished watching.

First.. that Erik incident seems so sketchy. 1) Probst is there like.. immediately 2) Who saw Erik at all like that during tribal? 3) They give him an IV immediately? In the past.. they give them the option of treatment and be taken out.. or stay.. here they jump right to treatment 4) If he's just dehydrated and needs some energy.. why on earth take him out of the game? An hour or so with the IV+ rest would have rebooted him. 5) Did you see the stupid expression on Jeff when he's like 'this changes the game again..'

Ugh.. the return of the walk of past contestants... ugh. It was such an improvement when they cut that the last two seasons.

That 'advantage' for winning reward was the biggest advantage I've ever seen them give. That was like to the point of absurd.. and C. still almost blew it. Normally the advantage is just skipping a phase...

A rather weak final immunity challenge..

Eddie.. good lord man.. when Jeff has to prod you like 'dude, its your game..' to make a response.. you obviously have nothing. No way he could have made a coherent final speech if he was final three.

Cochrane.. thank you thank you thank you.. for being the first contestant in a long time having a SOLID opening statement and legit argument at final tribal.

Sherri.. good lord.. shutting down Erik like that? And man that shows how pathetic Erik really is to take that and go sit down. Spineless!

Thank god the Jury didn't go all emotional. Cochrane totally deserved it out of the people left.. but I do feel a bit like he was the best of the worst to a degree. Really, once the Corrine vote happened... the contestants did nothing to win the game until the Brenda vote.. and that was an obvious move. Corrine was the last person really being creative and trying to take control of the game. She just played her cards too early (volunteering info 2 tribals out = stupid). Andrea had the potential to shake it up.. but was hindered by sloth Erik.

The show did a good job of talking up these people as if there was a chance of variety.. but those players just rode the ship for the most part. Malcolm and Renyold were the most interesting part of the show for the last quarter.. but they were fighting impossible odds so it was just delaying time. The game is so boring when people play safe all the way to the end.

Having Rudy there was kind of odd... he basically was the first selfless victim in the game.. basically letting Hatch go ahead and having Hatch play the selfish card to leapfrog from Rudy's gift. Maybe they were trying to tie that back to Brenda or something.. but even there it wasn't really the same.

I'm just glad we didn't have a horrible Jury vote. I expect to see Renold in a future season.. maybe Michael too.

Erik started getting dizzy just minutes after the Tribal Council when Brenda was voted off. Jeff was literally steps away from them when it started happening.

I agree about Cochran's opening speech being stellar. Great job proving his case to the jury.

I think some of them were in the audience.
They were all there in the first 2 rows to the left of the stage(from the audience perspective). I saw Francesca's bald head, the 2 blondes, Shamar and the rest. I do prefer when they are all up on the stage, but I think this was a way to hide Brandon not being there.

I don't mind the walk past the fallen contestants when they actually have something to say about each one, but this time it was lame.

Yeah, that advantage was really a HUGE advantage. I could have seen it being the first bag is untied or already on the table, but you then had to work through the rest of them the same as the others. I was shocked when all 3 bags were just there to be grabbed.

Agree that Reynold will totally be back in a future season.

I was more about how quickly they intervened... the staff isn't that far away at any point during the game.. but they cross a threshold before they intervene. Here, was like.. oh we're in. And the choice to remove him vs let him regain some strength.. like instant.

Remember that young guy that died recently on the French version of Survivor.
The last thing anyone involved with making Survivor would ever want to deal with is a fatality, or a permanent injury if some kind.

Too bad Eddie couldn't have won the last immunity so there would have been a little suspense. It would have been a closer vote but I think Cochran still would've won. He was brilliant at the final tribal council. Eddie would have been....Eddie.

Dawn was absolutely terrible at the final tribal council, but somehow Sherri was even worse. Why did she think that was the right time to suddenly tell everyone basically "I'm a wealthy successful businesswoman so I couldn't care any less about your opinion of me or the $1m"? Cochrane obviously knew what he was doing in choosing to bring those two with him to the end.

I lost a lot of respect for Brenda when it became clear her only goal at the final tribal council was to humiliate Dawn in front of a national TV audience.

Brandon is the most detestable creep they've ever had on the show. I won't watch it if they bring him back.
