Survivor: Cagayan

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
I was just a wee one when Survivor first started, but I remember seeing parts of episodes here and there back when it was the "it" show.
It's still my "it" show, along with Big Brother.

Only regular BB though, not this Canadian carp.

Survivor took over American Idol for me, and boy I'm glad it did. I kept holding on hoping it wasn't really getting as bad as it was, but I finally let go. And now with HIMYM over, this is my one and only show.

Alright, I was a bit tired last night to post anything but the Ponderosa post.

DAMN!!! This season is amazing so far. No real dud episodes yet and drama all over the place.

Kass is definitely over thinking things. She just didn't like Sarah and voted with her heart and not her "brain"(man the brain tribe really haven't used them at all). Now she is on the bottom of who she voted with and lost the votes on the other side. Not smart at all.

Totally sneaky flip of the vote from Tony to Jefra. I also thought they were going at LJ in the heat of the moment. Thinking back, they were mentioning Jefra all along(which I thought was a dumb vote to begin with and agreed with Sarah whole heartedly. Jefra was just there and not a threat to anything).

With both Idols played, now will come the "trust" issues and both of them not sharing that they had an idol with their alliances. So more drama to come.

Woo is a beast in challenges. An Ozzy like combination of strength, balance, skill and smarts.

Fantastic camera work again this episode.

Every time I watch the show I think, "and these are the camera angles @SAV loves.":p

That tribal was nuts. I thought it was LJ for the other one too - hubby knew Jefra. Kass is an idiot. Has she never watched the show? The flipper is almost always next to go: Candace (in her first season), Cochrane (in his first season). It doesn't work. Nobody respects you after that.

Spencer and Woo are my favorites.

Yes, the awesome shots of the island from above with the blue water and island are just awesome!! The scenery, the mountains...good stuff!!
:devilish:

Yeah - exactly what I meant. ;)

On the same topic (sort of) - do you guys think that when they show those snakes, lizards, etc. that they are just cutting together footage and those animals are no where near the castaways? Do you think they go through and clear out any poisonous wildlife when prepping the island for filming? I always wondered that.

I would be surprised if they didn't have something set up to keep poisonous animals out. My thought is, they go to random parts of the island, or nearby locations and film the animals.

I was totally fooled by the editing they did. They kept showing LJ and Tony for "the other one", but they never flashed to Jefra. Very sneaky.

The best line in the ep was Sarah being interviewed about who to vote out. After she makes the case for Tony, she admits she has all of the same characteristics and would vote herself out.

Kass is an idiot.

The random shots of wildlife have existed since the first season. They're always symbolic of the person about to talk or be talked about and may have all been filmed for season one and recycled ever since (just like the ropes, blindfolds, and puzzle pieces). My favorites are the scuttling crabs. Move sideways! Pause! Scuttle! Fun stuff.

Speaking of the scuttling crabs. I don't understand why they don't go after them for food. And I don't mean trying to go and grab them. I mean by setting up a trap. I saw this on one of the survival shows. You dig a hole in the sand, put a container of some sort in the hole. Put up 2 pieces of wood/branch on the sides and one across it, kind of like a BBQ spit, but have it up out of reach. Then you put some "bait" on there. The crabs scuttle along focusing on the bait, fall in the container and can't get out...LUNCH!!!!

And I know they have fishing gear, why hasn't anyone tried to use it? And those without the gear, try to fashion a spear/sling and use that. I know I would research the hell out of ways to survive on a deserted island before going on Survivor.

Or just do what this guy does:

I watch Survivorman whenever it's on - that's the extent of my survival training. But I agree - if I were going on a show with a chance to win $1,000,000 I sure as heck would research anything and everything that could help me survive. I would also do some intense physical training and make sure I could swim and fish. Some of these people go straight from their couch to the cab to the airport.

I wonder how much is left out, making it seem like all they eat is rice. They always show when a tribe gets fishing gear, but they never acknowledge any use of it.
