Surprisingly Good Side Dishes

We all have our fav entrees at our fav restaurants during every trip to Disney. Once in a while, we surprise ourselves with a side item on the menus. What side dish have you experienced and were pleasantly surprised? Here's a few favs of ours .....

Le Cellier lobster mac and cheese
Rose and Crown Bubble and Squeak
Raglan Road Colcannon
Boma Brioche

Since these come with the main meat course I don't know if they count but the sweetpotato/waffle breadpudding that comes with the Chicken dish at CG right now and the mac and cheese that comes with the bison at Artist Point pretty much rocked my world this past visit....also the free olives at tutto Italia are very nice and you can ask for more!

I love colcannon, we make it every St Patrick's Day! I'll have to check that out next time we hit Raglan.
Fun thread, I love sides. Definitely the goat cheese polenta at Cali Grill, potato gratin at Yachtsman, risotto at Flying Fish....just a few stand-outs I've enjoyed.

We treated ourselves to a few side dishes on our last visit. One real standout for me was Olivia's Potatoes from Olivia's Café. They didn't come with what we ordered for dinner, but our server, John, brought us out a dish and insisted that we should taste them. He was so right! These gruyère potatoes au gratin were amazing. John was a delightful presence in the restaurant, and very enthusiastic about their offerings. If you ever visit Olivia's and have John as your server, I implore you to heed his recommendations! He knows his stuff.

Another dish we really enjoyed was the crab mac and cheese at Shula's. We sat in the lounge and split this dish between us and were incredibly satisfied. I can't imagine having it as a side along with one of their entrées. It's filling enough to be an entrée of its own!

Lastly, the wilted garlic and lemon scented young spinach from the Flying Fish Café was a hit for both of us. It was an ideal green side to go with our seafood. I don't know how food is "scented" without being flavored, but while we could definitely smell a strong lemon fragrance, the spinach didn't actually taste of it. It's kind of a cool trick!

Love the chickpea lentil cake in Jiko!
It's all about the Brocolini in Liberty Tree Tavern.
Potato Casserole in Akershus.
The Red Cabbage in Germany's Biergarten and may I say their pretzel bread is yummier than Le Cellier (if you think it's possible)
