A few surprising closures from that list above;
  • Starbucks?! I guess because you aren't allowed to sip a coffee once you buy it, so...
  • Asian Street Eats. Didn't want to try a Takeout attempt, or don't have the boxes/bags needed?
  • CrazyShake Takeout Window. Takeout is literally in the name, but the melting issue is probably what killed it.
And a few surprising things that are still open;
  • Ballast Point. Do they really have a robust takeout menu? Or are they just offering bottled growlers to go?
  • Black Tap. It's the same company as CrazyShakes, so they must box it up so you can't sip/nosh in the mall.
  • Salt & Straw. Melting cones! But maybe they are only selling pints to go in a bag? And no spoon for you!
There are two big companies who have basically stopped all food service; Disney and Patina Group.

Patina Group is notable because they are a founding member of Downtown Disney since 2001, and operate the biggest restaurants there; Catal, Uva Bar, Tortilla Jo's, Naples, Napolini. I was also told by a well informed source several months ago that Patina is in crisis mode and their parent company, Delaware North, is on the brink. This isn't a good sign that they just threw in the towel completely on Downtown Disney.

Imagine buying an ice cream and then immediately speedwalking like hell to your car before it all melts.

It's going to be sunny and 84 degrees in Anaheim tomorrow. I would actually like to try that, just for the fun visual. 🥵
I’m a fast walker. I’ve conquered San Francisco, Boston, and New York speed walking around town. Ive dropped 40 lbs this year and I’m planning on doing the WDW virtual 5k next month. That should be a cake walk for me now. Doing the DTD Ice Cream speed walk challenge seems very interesting to me lol. Back during my cast member days , while working at the lonely popcorn wagon in Toontown, I’d take my lunch breaks at either the Plaza Inn or Village Haus. That paved my career in being an amazing speed walker.

I was looking at a map. Is Walnut Street still on property? Folks could rush there to eat their ice cream cones after having them boxed with dry ice.

Six Flags Magic Mountain Christmas lights extended through late January while other theme parks close – Orange County Register (ocregister.com)

>>Six Flags Magic Mountain plans to expand its once-in-a-lifetime drive-thru holiday lights event for a second time while rival theme parks are forced to close their gates because of the Southern California stay-at-home order issued by the state.

Six Flags Magic Mountain will extend the popular Holiday in the Park Drive-Thru Experience through Jan. 31 on select dates.

“Our Six Flags Holiday in the Park Drive-Thru Experience will remain open as scheduled,” Six Flags officials said in a statement. “The health and safety of our guests and employees are our top priority, and like other local public venues, we continue to monitor the situation and follow guidance from the state and county officials.”<<

There was no question about being a fan of themeparks or a fan of Disneyland. The company thinks people want Disneyland cause they like Disney, Star Wars, and Marvel brands, not because of the experience the parks offer.

And isn't that an absolute shame?

It's as if Disney doesn't realize that Disneyland itself is a powerful brand with worldwide appeal that goes beyond functioning as a place to promote their latest IP.

I think a few things from Earl of Sandwich is about the only food offering that could withstand the long walk back to your car in Simba. It helps Earl's is also the closest to the parking lot.
If it were closer to the esplanade we'd walk out there every day! lol

Unfortunately here's what's left after the shutdown order in terms of dining. This for both Buena Vista and Downtown Disney. Buena Vista even took down the Churro carts so as to not encourage in person dining it seems.

I had a great time recently so am sad to say that I don't see this being feasible at all for Disney if this continues. Will people park and walk there just for the shops? Will people buy ice cream and bring it back to their car before it melts?

Lol Churro as in person dining. Crazy isn't it.

If I was in the area, I wouldn't mind picking up Earl of Sandwich or Sprinkles to go BUT I'm not paying an extra $10 in parking to do that.

The bakery is open in DtD and Buena Vista it seems as well.
Can anyone second the vouch that the bakery at Buena Vista street is open? My sister and I had planned a Santa run to all our family in Orange County, dropping off all of their presents. Our hope had been to stop by DCA for lunch, but I suppose the bakery will do, assuming it really is open.

Trolley Treats is open for Takeout only, and cannot be eaten on property.

So you can't enjoy it on property. CM's will be enforcing the rules, including making sure masks remain on at all times.

Alas, if on the road, you have limited options, eat in the car, find a public park and have a picnic, or have a meal at one of the households you are visiting, or in your Hotel/Motel room.

Or find a restaurant ignoring Governor Newsom's most recent orders.
