Suprise trip and Dining Plan question

Today was my birthday, and tucked away into a book my girlfriend gave me was a piece of paper that said reservation confirmation. Basically my girlfriend is taking me to Disney for a few days in a few months. :sohappy:

Everything is paid for, we are just going over the numbers and figuring out if we should add on the Dining plan.

We have a question about the snack option. Is a snack considered anthing under $4? Are you able to get something more expensive, if you pay the difference?

How sweet of her!!! :sohappy: and Happy Birthday!!!

Not everything $4 and under is included, but there are a good number of items that are. The menus will indicate if something is considered a snack on the plan. No, you can't purchase something more expensive and pay the difference. The cast members are always very helpful in explaining what is and what is not included. We spent some of our snack credits at Goofy's Candy Company on treats to bring home.

Have a great time!

I wonder if you can get the beignets at POFQ as a snack:veryconfu
I believe they are priced under $4.
Sorry for interupting the thread - the question just came to mind since we're talking about snacks.

I think I remember someone saying that beignets were included as a snack.

To the OP: I am certain that you can't get something more expensive and pay the difference. It isn't a $4 credit towards a snack, it's a snack credit that can get you certain things that are all under $4.

I'm not 100% sure, but (like Monty) I read somewhere that they are. :)

That's a good way of looking at it at the snack credit.

yodasmith, what a great girlfriend you have! And Happy Birthday!!

What is great about the snack credit is you can get a big bag of chips, bagels, etc at some of the resorts, for example Saratoga Springs Resorts.

The bigger question it seems you have is to get the DDP or not. I personally think the DDP pays for itself almost in the Table Service. Maybe a bit into the Quick Service. But definitely the snacks are just the icing on the cake.

Thanks for everyone's help. We opted to pass on the dining plan. (we crunched the numbers and decided that we would love to eat all that food, but for this trip we are going to pass on the dining plan. :(

We are instead going to go to the Pirate and Princess Party instead. It'll be good to get into the Magic Kingdom and not have to big of a crowd. At least I don't think the crowds for that party are to huge.

Thanks Again.

Well you gotta do what's best for you. Not everyone values the DDP. Just remember to book your ADRs. We find that it's getting so you can't just walk up to a table service restaurant and get a table. Or you'll need to wait awhile.

Very cool that you're going to the Pirate and Princess party!! We went earlier in the year and LOVED IT!! Do not miss the fireworks!! The best we've seen at WDW. Funny. Exciting. Magical. Are you and your girlfriend going to dress up? One big time saving suggestion I have is to not stand in line for the "treasure booty". It's chocolate candy and beads. And while the candy is yummy, it's not worth standing in a long line when you could be riding rides or getting pictures with the special characters of the evening. Generally those treasure lines get really really sparse towards the end of the night. So then you can swoop in and get your booty! :ROFLOL:Also eat before you go because I don't remember too much open during the party. The place near the Pirates ride (tacos and stuff I think) and Casey's was open. As well as the ice cream and sweets shop. But we were so excited for the P&P party that we didn't want to waste time eating, so we ate at Kona Cafe before hand.
