So if they're saying WOC WON'T be June 11th than when? I mean the people that are saying not till July, what is leading them to that conclusion?

Well, World of Color was originally rumored to open this month (April). June 11th is the date for Summer Nightastic.

In his latest update, Al Lutz said the date will now be June 10th with previews and soft openings happening a few weeks before that. At this point nothing is set in stone.. I think i'll just wait until Disney announces all the details :)

The park maps have been updated.. and it looks like Summer Nightastic 2010 has a new logo! Last year's logo was similar to Fantasmic's, probably because the new dragon was the main draw of the promotion.

Did they ever announce the date for World of Color?

Not yet :( theres still that rumor by Al of June 10, with soft openings prior, if they do soft openings, I wonder if it will be announced or word of mouth like when BLAB soft opened and tons of guest showed up.

John G.:Have you heard anything new since your last update about the [DCA World of Color] lagoon show?

Al's Answer: That fancy new Paradise Park won't be peaceful for much longer. Thursday, June 10th has really firmed up in just the last few business days as the official date for the big World of Color celebrity media premiere, with twice-nightly performances thereafter, as we told you in last month's update. Soft openings for the show aren't as definite yet, but they are currently planned to begin in the middle of May, and perhaps only on weeknights at first.

Did they ever announce the date for World of Color?

now they have :sohappy: as mentioned by sponono in the World of Color thread

World of Color officially opens on June 11, 2010 the same day as Summer Nightastic! returns.

http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/bl...june-11-at-disneys-california-adventure-park/

Lights, water, fire, music and animation will come together like never before on June 11 when “World of Color” makes its dazzling debut at Disney’s California Adventure park. You will get to experience some of your favorite Disney stories – from the charming to the adventurous – in a magical, new way.
“World of Color” debuts this year as part of Summer Nightastic! –- a lineup of exciting, after-dark entertainment at the Disneyland Resort. Summer Nightastic! will run from June 11 through August 29, and you’ll be able to catch “World of Color” year-round at Paradise Bay.

The bold in important to note :)

Yes, that's huge. :sohappy:

What it means is that DCA is changing quickly in 2010. It's going to stay open later year round, and be an important draw that can stand on its own. Even grumpy old DCA critics like myself can't ignore what's happening here.

Checking online, the sun sets in Anaheim around 7:00PM in mid September. They'd have to stay open until 8:00PM on weekdays to pull off a WoC show seven nights a week. But weekend shows in September are obviously a go.

But by October we've got sunset times of 6:40PM in early October and 6:00PM by late October. That means a 7:00PM closing time on weekdays could mean nightly WoC performances. And, a showing for the wildly popular Mickey's Trick Or Treat Parties that happen in October is also a strong possibility.

And after Halloween, with the switch from Pacific Standard Time to Daylight Saving Time, the sun sets at 4:55PM by November 7th, which means nightly showings seven days a week through Thanksgiving and Christmas! By Christmas it is dark in Anaheim at 5:00PM, so two or three showings per night are an easy option.

It really is very exciting to see DCA morph into an entirely different kind of theme park right before our eyes! This type of mega-buck Billion dollar investment in an operating theme park is unprecedented. And we are on the cusp of seeing it begin to appear! So exciting!

Now Summer Nightastic! is even more confirmed lol

http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2010/04/summer-nightastic-is-back-at-the-disneyland-resort/

We’ve been sharing a lot of information about “World of Color” in the past couple months, and if you’re planning to come see the new water spectacular when it debuts June 11 you might also like to know about Summer Nightastic! Our summer line-up of popular shows and after dark entertainment runs June 11 through Aug. 29.

Here’s the rundown:

* “Fantasmic!” – The classic show on the Rivers of America was just enhanced last year with a fully animated 40-foot-tall dragon, cutting-edge digital video technology and an appearance by Flotsam and Jetsam, the slithering eels who serve Ursula the Sea Witch in “The Little Mermaid.”
* “Magical” – The fireworks show over Sleeping Beauty Castle features a host of characters, including Tinker Bell and an airborne Dumbo.
* Toy Story Mania! – Tom Smith recently gave a sneak peek of the new faces coming to this Paradise Pier attraction and also announced the new Lotso character appearing in the Park.
* TLT Dance Club – Dance the night away at this dance club in Tomorrowland Terrace in Disneyland park, where live bands and DJs from the hottest Southern California radio stations will appear on selected nights throughout the summer.
* Pixie Hollow Enchantment – For a pixie-dusted evening, check out the light show at Pixie Hollow and see Tinker Bell and her friends come to life at night.

If you had a chance to visit the Disneyland Resort for Summer Nightastic! last year, what did you like best?

So Summer Nightastic starts June 11 even though F! and Magical both return on May 28. I guess they want the focus to be only on WoC on June 11

Interesting that they added the TSMM update as a Nightastic offering. Also.. the link in the Disney Parks Blog takes you to WDW's Summer Nightastic site :dazzle:

here's a new article from D23: http://d23.disney.go.com/articles/042910_NF_BN_SummerNightastic.html

04.29.10 - Summer nights at Disneyland Resort will be brighter and more exciting than ever as Summer Nightastic! returns, bringing with it many old favorites and the most dazzling show of all: the new World of Color.

"Nighttime is especially exciting during the summer at Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure parks," said George A. Kalogridis, president of Disneyland Resort. "The addition of World of Color to our Summer Nightastic! entertainment program continues to raise the bar for the after-dark experience at Disneyland Resort."

The premiere of World of Color will add new sparkle to an already radiant lineup of favorite nighttime experiences in Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure. A formidable, fire-breathing dragon joined the cast of Fantasmic! last summer, and the Magical firework spectacular also debuted in 2009, sending Dumbo into the air over Sleeping Beauty Castle for the first time.

Summer Nightastic! 2010 premieres Friday, June 11 and continues nightly through Sunday, August 29 at Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure. Magical fireworks continue through Labor Day weekend. World of Color and Fantasmic! will continue to entertain guests on select dates year-round.

because Aladdin is now part of Summer Nightastic, it will begin playing evening performances on June 11th. The schedule will be:

Disney's Aladdin - A Musical Spectacular
Hyperion Theater
3:10 p.m. 4:50 p.m. 7:15 p.m. 8:50 p.m.

also seems like a good way to disperse the big crowds that are expected to arrive for WoC

Today's update from Al had an update on Fantasmic -

The river rehab also gave the Disneyland Entertainment team a chance to thoroughly tune up the existing Fantasmic! infrastructure on the island and along the river bottom, as well as install some new mist effects, lasers and lighting for the show. Murphy the infamous dragon has also received some TLC down in his pit.

Fantasmic! at Disneyland has never looked better, and this summer it will truly sparkle, but it’s going to have quite a bit of competition next door with World of Color.

Both Fantasmic and Magical returned tonight! although Summer Nightastic doesn't officially start until June 11th..

Fantasmic now features really cool new laser effects! Whereas they were very faint before, now they are a vibrant green, purple, and blue and they create a really bright wave of colors. Looks amazing! I also noticed the Pinocchio puppets were new, and Malificent's sparkly/wand thing looked new as well. Overall the show looked great.

Magical featured a lot more pyro, although overall the show remained unchanged. Sadly, no confetti finale like last year. Don't know if it was cut from the show, or if it was just a technical glitch tonight.

I agree, Fantasmic! looked simply amazing tonight. So fresh, so vibrant, so crystal clear. It had already been spruced up the past three years, in different places each year, but now it's all come together and it just looks like a brand new show from the 21st century, when it could easily look like something tired from the Bill Clinton era. Murphy looked fabulous, and the Mark Twain sparkled like never before. The new special effects were a surprise touch. Bravo Disneyland! :sohappy:

Magical also looked fantastic, and was a nice way to kick off the unoffical start of summer!

I imagine this was all on purpose so that this 1992 Fantasmic show, still looks crisp and relevant next to the 2010 water show about to debut next door, and Disneyland entertainment still holds up to the new stuff about to debut at DCA. But Fantasmic! has never looked better in its entire life, and it's obvious they have poured a lot of TLC into the show in recent years.

Glow Fest is now added to the Summer Nightastic! lineup-

http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2010/06/glow-fest-joins-the-summer-nightastic-line-up/

Last month we shared details of the popular shows and after-dark entertainment that are returning for Summer Nightastic! Today, we have more exciting news. A new, high-energy experience called Glow Fest joins that line-up to light up summer nights at Disney California Adventure park.

While “World of Color” brings a whole lot of color to the Paradise Pier section of the Park, you will find bright lights and beams of color in Sunshine Plaza and the Hollywood Backlot at this summer’s Glow Fest.

Glow Fest begins with the sound of drums and powerful rhythms that will draw you to Sunshine Plaza. An electric energy fills the evening air. As the sun goes down, colors burst to life and music starts to play from a brightly-lit stage that seems to glow. Dancers and world music performers create a fun vibe that you will only find at Disney California Adventure park.

During Summer Nightastic! the daily experience takes center stage in Sun Plaza from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and continues in the Hollywood Backlot until Park closing, so it’s the perfect thing to check out with your family, or if you’re just looking for a fun way to cap your night.

LaughingPlace has an update on Glow Fest: http://www.laughingplace.com/Lotion-View-1052.asp Watch the fourth video to see Doug McIntyre's presentation on what the new festival will consist of. it really sounds great!

Following the presentation of the FASTPASS and meal options, Doug McIntyre, Disneyland’s Director of Entertainment Development and Production shared details of Glow Fest, a street party that will precede World of Color. Guests will gather in Sunshine Plaza at about 6pm each night. A host will lead the festivities, assisted by two groups of performers: world dancers who will change from week to week, and a resident troupe, the Glow Dancers. Described as a ritual transition from day to night, this kick-off to Glow Fest will include an interactive “drumming down the sun” ceremony, at sunset.

Following this, shortly after 8pm, the party will move on to Hollywood Boulevard in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot. Special graphics, set pieces and light towers will create a festive atmosphere. Guests will help create this atmosphere by participating in interactive activities that will project their images onto the wall of the Hyperion Theater at the end of the street, as well as in satellite locations. Smaller stages, bars selling specialty drinks, and food vending stands will complete the setting for this phase of the party that will last until DCA’s official closing.

the first group to perform at Sunshine Plaza will reportedly be Bollywood dancers.. the drumming down to sunset ceremony sounds cool, and i'm looking forward to all the new lighting and interactive projections.

he mentions in the video that they're working with Pogo to create music video pieces of Disney films. here's a preview of his work -
