Now its official Disneyland Resort's Summer Nightastic! returns this year June 11-Aug 29. This press release is part of a travel promotion, Im guessing we'll see a full Summer Nightastic! press release soon. But bigger news is that World of Color has an official opening date June 11

Summer Nightastic!” Returns
Beginning June 11, “Summer Nightastic!” returns to the Disneyland Resort, featuring exciting evening events that will electrify the night. “Summer Nightastic!” runs through Aug. 29 at Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure theme parks.

Headlining the entertainment is the new nighttime water spectacular – “World of Color” – at Disney’s California Adventure park. Surpassing all previous water productions, “World of Color” brings Disney animation to life with powerful fountains that are the stars of the show, forming the world’s largest projected water screen. In the making since 2005, “World of Color” combines hundreds of magnificent fountains, LED-produced dazzling colors, and an all-new kaleidoscope of audio and visual effects to take water-infused entertainment to a new level of artistry.

Located in Paradise Bay, Disney’s newest production features an unprecedented infrastructure of water effects, larger-than-life projections, lasers, fire, fog, surround sound and stunning images. This technical wizardry, combined with classic, animated Disney and Disney•Pixar film sequences, creates an emotional experience for guests as jaw-dropping effects sweep across the lagoon and soar into the sky.

Meanwhile, at Disneyland park, “Fantasmic!” ignites the night with thrills, life-like creatures including a fire-breathing dragon, and spine-tingling adventures for Sorcerer Mickey. Also, in the skies above Sleeping Beauty Castle, “Magical” sparks to life with a dazzling fireworks spectacular in which colorful choreographed pyrotechnics burst and soar to a soundtrack of celebratory Disney songs. “Magical,” which premiered in summer 2009, features both Tinker Bell and Dumbo in flight over the castle.

Cool, thanks for the news! Very excited for Summer Nightastic 2010 :D

So June 11th it is then.. Although I wonder if both F! and WoC will begin on the same night? I thought Fantasmic was supposed to return May 28th.

very happy about Magical's return as well :sohappy:

It will be interesting to see how everything plays out in the next few months with the debuts of the shows. DisneyAuditions has auditions for the Peter Pan segment but mentions no start date(usually they post the start dates for the shows).

I want to see this years logo since last years was Fantasmic! focused. Kinda surprised they kept the Summer Nightastic! name, since World of Color is the headliner.

I wonder if this years will get a media announcement like last years or if they will be like HalloweenTime's and Holidays at Disneyland Resort's full press releases.

Yeah, all along F!'s return was scheduled for May 28. And to be honest, i'm still a bit confused over Summer Nightastic's ending date. It ends August 29.. but all the shows will continue to run past that date

About the logo, i'm hoping for something new but I wouldn't be surprised if they use last years. They're including Fantasmic in the lineup so they'll probably keep the same logo.

All I know is June 11 will be a very busy night at the DLR.

Sweet!! I hope I can get out to the West Coast to this event. I really want to see World of Color and the new Fantasmic dragon.

I loved Magical, but it needs to have more pyrotechnic effects to make it seem more...um, "Magical". Personally I would rather see them bring back Believe, There's Magic in the Stars...but who knows, maybe Magical will get some updates.

This is exciting. I cannot wait to see both Summer Nightastics on each coast :)

I'm not seeing anywhere in that press release saying that World of Color will be opening *on* June 11th. It is carefully worded and says that Summer Nightastic will be returning on June 11th. By including WoC with that, it implies that it will be open *BY* June 11th, but not necessarily *ON* the 11th.

Don't get me wrong: I would be surprised to see them hit the previously rumored date of May 1st, but I wouldn't be surprised to see an official premiere before June, nor would I be surprised to see a premiere on the 11th.

I just wanted to point that out, in the interest of accuracy.

According to the micechat project tracker:
"Cast Members have now been notified the show (WoC) will open on June 11, 2010. "

The info from Micechat was originally posted when the first rumor for the June 11 date start came out.

The June 11 date discredits those you keep saying WOC has been pushed back to July, as well as gives us at least one date to know that it will be up and running.

Disneylandnews.com doesn't even list this press release in its headliners as its a travel promo press release like I mentioned in the OP.

A Disneyland Resort spokesman confirmed that June 11 is not World of Color's opening date. And according to the article, we will see a full press release for Summer Nightastic later this spring.

Last week, some Disney blogs and fan Web sites reported that the World of Color’s debut was confirmed for June 11, based on a Disney press release about summer promotions. But Disney quickly removed the date from the press release after it was misinterpreted.

A final opening date has yet to be determined, said John McClintock, a Disneyland Resort spokesman. The date will be announced later this spring, he said.

More details about Summer Nightastic, including a light show at Pixie Hollow and dance parties in Tomorrowland, will also be released later this spring.

Hmm interesting, also interesting that the articale seems to have taken a life of its own on some other boards.... eeek

But part of me wishes DLR would have just dropped the Summer Nightastic! promo altogether it seems more like an old has been, since the name is the pun on Fantasmic! which was last year focus and the other since WDW will have it too. Halloween and Christmas seem to fair out a little better IMO with there very limited time periods and much stronger seasonal offerings.

I think DLR could have gotten away with a very heavy World of Color promo(but keeping the buy 3 get 5 deal) this year instead of getting bunched up with Summer Nightastic!

But to try keeping this thread on Summer Nightastic! I am happy to see Magical returning, I wonder how much different it will be compared to last years version.

This may have already been posted elsewhere:

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/entertainment/summer-nightastic/

Noticed the title of MSEP, DISNEY'S Main Street Electrical Parade, not Walt Disney World's or Magic Kingdom's.

Not that MSEP has anything to do with DLR's Summer Nightastic! but thats weird. They might as well just name it the Disney Parks Main Street Electrical Parade:hurl::hurl::hurl::zipit: although that might actually sound better than what WDW named their summer firework show......:lookaroun

I totally disagree with WDW's name for the summer fireworks display...so plain, generic, and uncreative....they should've just kept the original Magic, Music, and Mayhem name.

I know this does not relate directly to the Summer Nightastic 2010 but I am going to Disneyland the week after these celebrations end and I was wondering if anyone knows if Fantasmic will still be showing regulaly then?

you're welcome! this also applies to the other shows. World of Color will continue to show at DCA, and Magical will run until Halloween Screams returns in the Fall.
So if they're saying WOC WON'T be June 11th than when? I mean the people that are saying not till July, what is leading them to that conclusion?
