Summer Magic with All Our Friends

Jenny(PotteryGal): is ready for her kids to go back to school. She's also planning a surprise trip to Disney for her and her daughter in January.

The kids here just got out of school. They have until September to spend the days smoking, drunk and vandalising cars.

So they're out for six weeks? How many breaks do they get throughout the year?

I don't have a kid, but I think They now have five weeks for summer, though some of the local schools asked parents if they would like it to be shorter by a few days, so they stayed on for three more days.

Aside from the summer break, they get two or three weeks for Xmas, two weeks for Easter and three breaks of a week each between midway between the three holidays above (half term).

How's it feel having flown the nest? Got into a new routine (other than giving your new Annual Pass a good battering at the turnstiles)

It's weird. Like I'm not used to life in Orlando yet. I still feel like an outsider here. And I miss my family. But when I'm inside the confines of Disney property, I feel at home. :)

At least with phone and the Net you can easily keep in touch with your family. When my sister moved to America, we only had expensive phone calls and post.

Hmmm...we have 12 weeks off in the summer, plus a couple at Cmas, a week of spring break, 5 days around our Thanksgiving, plus some long weekends. I think my daughter appreciates the longer summer break, but it would be better for my son, who's special needs, to have things spread out like you described.

Which is a sad thing. I used to belong to a Dog board, but the owner of that go so brassed off with the abuse, bickering and so on that he pulled the plug on it.

I wonder if the day will come when Steve decides it's more trouble than it's worth with some of the crap he has to put up with.
You know I don't know. I think that there are a lot of watch dogs that try to keep everyone "nice" but then there are times when people get out of hand no matter what. Like a conversation I had a few days ago with someone got pretty ugly. But if you can act like a grown up (which, as I noticed, few do) you can still get along nicely and cohesively.
