when i was at the all star movies in may i orders the philly cheesesteak and asked to have no frys as i would like to get a side salad out of the fridge insted i was told that i had to pay for the frys it was part of the meal. Luckly dbf ordered pasta and it came with a salad so i enjoyed that and threw the frys in the garbage. I was just wondering are all places like this? Also if your on the DDP would i have to pay extra for the salad out of my pocket because the frys are included in the combo at the counter service places?

You can generally substitute a bag of carrots or container of apple sauce instead of fries at most locations that offer kids meals, as that is the same alternatives to fries that they offer for those.

A whole side salad, though, would most likely be charged extra. I get the apple sauce cups at many places in the park. It's a nice breakl from the soggy WDW fries!

Unfortunately, WDW is not Wendy's. You can't substitute those fries for a salad or baked potato. You can't do that at most fast food places (which is a fair comparison), so it's not a surprise that you can't do that at WDW.

However, you can order something without fries and get a discounted price. You can then use those savings toward a salad or something else (or save it for a snack somewhere else).

Edit: Some places have a good topping bar, which can make your fries pretty tasty. I know Pecos Bills in the MK has melted cheese, which def helps with the ol' fries.

yea i just wanted the sandwich and one of the smaller side salads. i would have greatly payed the diffrence which would of only been a dollar or so but nope they wanted me to pay the 3.99 plus the cost of the meal. I wasnt impressed at all. haha i have to agree sometimes you just want somthing diffrent then soggy frys with your meal.. but does any one know about the meal plan? how would that work with the salad? would i just have to pay the full price out of pocket?

DDP gets you the entre item, a side, which can be a salad, a dessert -- which can also be fruit, and a drink-- which can be soda, bottled water, milk, juice.

At Tusker House, in AK, with the chicken sammich... I usually ask for no fries.. but the mac and cheese instead. And they do it for me with no prob.

Agreed that usually anything you can sub it for... is a nice break from the fries.
