Stuff to bring questions...

I called the Disney College recruiting thing a couple times and was never really given detailed, I guess, information on what and what not to bring... was hoping you guys could answer some of the questions I have:

1) Should we/could we bring computers? I have a laptop that I bring w/ me on almost every trip I make, but I have a desktop PC that I spend most of my time at home on. Was wondering if we were able to bring that?

2) Clothing - I have a friend who told me not to bring a lot of clothes because I'll end up buying some things while I'm down there. But I honestly don't expect to be buying everything that I see. Are two luggage full of clothes and maybe a dufflebag enough for 8 months?

3) Electronics - iPod, headphones, cellphones, alarm clock, maybe a stereo, etc obviously a must bring. But I was also wondering if we could/should bring along a TV, say a big HDTV. Or maybe my PS3 and Xbox 360?...

thanks in advance

1) If you have a computer, bring it. Some of the apartments have desks next to the internet hook-up, but not all of them. My apartment didnt, so our laptops lived on the coffee table in the living room. It's really personal preference as to a laptop or desktop, but I would suggest the laptop. It's smaller & if your apartment doesnt have a desk, you dont lose as much valuable space.

2) I took way too many clothes & I just took a large suitcase & a hiking backpack (one of the really big ones) full of clothes. I did end up buying quite a few clothes while I was there. I would suggest having 2-3 nice outfits, not only for Traditions & your park orientation day, but any other training classes you might need to be in Disney Look for. I took 3 tops, a pair of dress pants & a skirt, so I mixed & matched to make several outfits. If you're thinking of going to the formal, make sure you have something to wear for that. As for how many regular clothes to bring, how often do you plan on doing laundry? I did laundry every week & a half or so & the I never came close to running out of clean clothes to wear. It does get kinda chilly during the winter, so you might want to bring jeans & sweatshirts for those "colder" days.

3) If you have a way to get a tv there, bring it. My roommate & I both flew so neither one of us brought a tv. We got there the end of August & my roommates family brought a tv with them when they drove down in October. Bring your video games too. There were nights that my friends & I had movie night or would play video games instead of going out & doing something.

Hope this helps.

If TV is something you spend a lot of time with now, bring one if you can. Personally, I don't watch a whole lot of live TV, I just watch movies, so I didn't bring a TV and used my laptop to watch movies.

As for computers, whichever you think is best. Patterson usually has one desk in the living room, but if you have roommates with desktops (like I did), they usually take the desk. I had a laptop which I set up on the dining table and had no trouble. I did go out and get a wireless router though because I didn't want to have a big ugly cord going across the room. There are usually 1 or 2 internet hookups in each room, but be warned, not all of them actually work (as I found out). If you have a wireless router, I suggest bringing it. Or make friends with the people in your building who have them and get the passwords to their networks :p

I second this comment. If you want a TV, bring it. Because if you don't, no one in your apartment will have either. It's just one of those wacky laws of the universe. :)

1. Bring the laptop. It's much more convenient since you can use it anywhere in the apartment. Imagine how much of a pain it will be if you and all your roommates brought their own desktop computer...takes up way too much space.

2. You're going to spend the majority of your time in your work uniform, and most people bring too many clothes (also: don't forget hangers for the clothes like me and all my roommates did). I'd say either 2 suitcases or a dufflebag and a suitcase, but not all three.

3. TV? Sure. BIG HDTV? I wouldn't. You don't know what floor of the house you'll end up on, and it's really just not necessary. Maybe like a 26inch or something like that. And I'd say rbring the PS3 since you can watch Blurays and dvds on it plus play video games

The list you have there is pretty perfect, I mean I didn't bring a TV I just watched stuff on my laptop but if you got it bring it. You don't need that much clothes though as you'll most likely be in uniform more than half of the time!

Whooo! Chatham Square!!

My roommate and I worked out an agreement hahaha I'm bringing my flatscreen TV and he's bringing his video games.

I'm bringing my laptop down when I go next month and leaving my desktop home. I don't feel like hauling that down and hooking it up. I've been slowly stocking up on stuff....I inherited an old wireless router from my parents and their old set of cordless phones. Just bought some bedding and a mattress pad for my bed!

You know who your roommate is going to be?

You know who your roommate is going to be?

Disney has set up the Roommate Matching/Notification program. You are matched with a roommate on the basis of age, arrival and departure dates, and gender. Only certain check-in dates are eligible for the program. The dates with the most people checking in will most likely be eligible. If you are eligible, you have the option of entering your friend's application number to be matched that way....or you will be matched with a "complete stranger". You will only be able to be matched with one other person who meets the same base criteria (age, check-in dates, etc)

Hopes this clears things up

When I did my CP, it was if you met someone in line before you got to the housing assignments, you could go up together and see if it was possible to be in the same apt.

That's what happened with me. I had met my roommate the night before at dtd. We decided to be roommates & to meet at Vista before getting in line. We were CareerStart & they didnt let us do the roommate matching thing. My neighbors who also checked in that day were placed with people who were in line near them, they didnt ask to be placed together, thats just how it worked out.
