Stuff that's overpriced in Disney but you buy anyway

Almost everything I buy while I'm down there, but I buy it anyway. The tougher question is what is a good value in WDW? I would say- nitro bass fishing, it's expensive but they make sure you have a good time.

:oops:I always feel like I spend too much on food and drinks at WDW, but that is only because I don't have anything to show for it afterwards.
Souvenirs, however....hm, I can't say the things I pick out are "overpriced" without reason? I mean, yeah, $35 for a towel? But it's an AK towel with cool dragons on it. Bottom line, I really love and keep all the souvenirs I get from all my WDW trips for many years so it seems worth it, IMHO.

I actually know what you mean and agree with you. Sometimes when you purchase a souvenir it's as much the actual enjoyment of seeing something at that time and buying it there and then that you're paying for more than the usefullness of the item itself. Certainly later on in life you may look back and think "That's the towel I bought in Disney" and it helps bring back the memories more so than if you popped into Walmart and bought it.

I agree with a past poster who said food because you have nothing to show for it but maybe a roundier belly.

Souvenirs are overpriced at any vacation spot, we know it, they know we know it, but nobody cares because going to the local Target and buying a snow globe has not the same appeal than bringing one back from the Magic Kingdom.

If I really have to choose one, I pick my measure cups/spoons. Together they were over $25 for something not only I already had at home but also I'm reluctant to use because I don't want to them getting dirty. Boggles the mind, doesn't it? o_O

Another place to find discounted souvenirs is marketplace Fun Finds in DTD they have a section that is 4 for $20. Some of the items there are really good, I do a lot of my Christmas shopping there. I check it several times during each trip as they are constantly filling it. Some of the stuff on there is still on the shelves in specialty shops for the original price. You can also find clearance stuff throughout the world..they have red rectangular stickers on them. As you can tell I am a bargain hunter.

Food! Just had an amazing breakfast at a local diner for $7. Said to DH, "That would have cost $30 at Disney." It comes with the territory, though, so I try not to think about it too much.

It makes me wonder how long has this Diamond encrusted Cinderella Castle has been sitting in Epcot?

Considering the price.....I'd say it's been there since 1982...

A collage photo frame. We get one every trip, but the $40 price tag doesn't help. However, we have also spent an obscene amount on Vinylmations before. :banghead: We still cringe thinking about the total cash we threw at these things back in 2010.

My kids still love Vinylmations...and save religiously to make these purchases on our trips. I will buy the overpriced t-shirts and sweatshirts but not a plastic form. I don't get it but....my DS was bent on getting the clear chaser years back. He bought like 5 boxes from the collection in great hope....all to be clear chaser-free. I found one on eBay and I am honestly embarrassed to tell you what I paid for this piece of plastic. However, my DS claimed it was the best birthday gift EVER. Disney magic sucked me in again!

Let's see. T-shirts, hats, autograph books (I know, $8 could be better spent but every autograph book I own has its own special memories.), food...Yup, the list goes on and on.
