Stuff sent back to the hotel?

hey everyone! i heard somewhere that you can get anything you buy in Disney World, like a snow globe or stuffed animals, sent back to your hotel room. Is this true? Does it work in every store, or just certain ones? or can you only get stuff sent back to certain hotels? Thanks anyone who can help!

You sure can get your packages sent to your room. You need to be sure to do this early in your trip, I think at least 2 days before your departure. One thing I do, is that I usually do the majority of my shopping at Downtown Disney's World of Disney. Then, I have my purchases sent to my home. This wipes off the sales tax, and then usually balances out the shipping cost. Just a suggestion.

Also, at some resorts, I don't think they are delivered to your room. Some (POP for example) have a location within their gift shop where you pick up things that you've had sent to your resort. Unless that's changed now.

Yes, you can have your purchases sent back to your room - or at least, back to your hotel - as long as it's a DISNEY hotel, of course!

Beats lugging that snow globe around all day, though!

I am pretty sure that they have changed the room delivery policy at all the resorts now. A few years ago you could have your packages delivered straight to your room, however, now they are delivered to a selected shop in your resort and can be picked up there.

Be sure to keep your receipts, because they will ask for them when you pick up your things. You might also need your resort I.D.

You can send anything back to your Disney Resort as long as it is not 2 days or less before your departure.

I remember at Caribbean Beach having the packages delivered right to our room, yet on our most recent trip to Yacht Club, we had to go to the main store in order to pick up our purchase.

And anyone, I believe, can send their purchases to the front gate to hold them for the day as so you would not have to carry them onto attractions or carry them the entire day.

It's a very nice perk.

This is true for Disney hotels and it is a wonderful service.

Some tips:
--Mention that you want resort delivery BEFORE your purchase is rung up. There is an extra layer or two of paperwork, and it's best to have everything in order from the beginning of the transaction.

--Unless you are in concierge at one of the deluxe resorts (and believe me, you will know if you are), the packages are delivered to the gift shop of your resort. (In concierge you stuff is taken to your room) The CMs are extremely busy right after a bus gets in. Just think about it--you're coming home from the parks, you're dead tired, but you figure you'll get your stuff before you go to your room. Everyone else has the same idea. It will be less busy if you go during your afternoon break.

--Because I am overly cautious, I would allow 2 days for packages to arrive. I had some stuff that did take 2 days. I also witnessed an absolutely horrid woman chewing out the CM because she was leaving tomorrow and her grandchildren would be devastated because their charm bracelets weren't there. (I would imagine that in these cases they ship the stuff to your home, which I told her, but she had already entered the Irrational Zone)

--Keep Your Receipt!!

If you are close to "leaving day," or aren't staying on property, you can have your stuff delivered to the front of the park. I'm not sure exactly where it is in each park, but the CMs are paid to know these things. It's good to know that you won't have to carry that cuckoo clock or blown glass Cinderella slipper with you on Space Mountain.

Such a great perk, shopaholics heaven, I happily wander the parks or DTD and charge it all to the room and pick it up from the gift shop at our hotel 1 or 2 days later. Very dangerous though so keep the receipts so you know how much you are spending!

They also have a same day package pick up at the parks. Typically they will give you a time in which the stuff will be up front and you just pick it up on the way out.

but... does anyone know if it also works if you dont live at USA? I´m really thinking about buying some snowglobes at my upcoming trip..but not sure how to get them to Germany.

Could you give me more info on this? Why does it take off the sales tax? Is it because it's out of state?
It sounds interesting, especially because you have to be careful what you buy, you need to make sure you have room in the suitcase to get it home!
Thanks in advance!

ah-HA!! Now you've figured out why they do this. Very few people are likely to have room in their suitcase for a monorail set.

As much as we don't like to admit it, and as much as we think it clouds the magic at times, Disney World exists to make a profit.

DIMV,

This service is totally free.

Let me reiterate what others have posted so far:

1) Let the CM at the register know UP FRONT that you want to have something sent to your resort otherwise you'll add at least 10 minutes onto your purchasing time. (They have to re-do the whole receipt by hand)

2) You must have at least 2 days prior to your departure in order to use this service.

3) If you want to purchase something in MK, you can have it sent to Guest Services (near the gate on the right side if you're leaving the park) and pick it up at the end of the day. At Epcot the pick-up is at the gift shop near the front gate(on your left as you're leaving) where you purchase locker rentals. (sorry, forgot the name).

4) At POP, you will have to pick up the packages at Everything POP. You will need your resort ID and driver's license. At POP they will also leave you a message on your room phone letting you know that they have received the package and that it is available for pick-up. Don't know if the other resorts do this or not.

Hope this helps.

Does anyone know why they aren't sent straight to the rooms anymore? That was great walking in and finding your stuff there. Could it be something was delivered to the wrong room and the people kept the stuff so now you have to prove the purchase is yours?

I suspect they don't take things directly to the rooms for at least 2 reasons.
1) Like Ringo8n24 said, it can become a "he said/she said" situation with people claiming not to have received their packages.

but far more likely is
2) it was a staff cutback. If everything goes to one location, it takes fewer CMs to deal with it.

Again, if you are in concierge, you stuff will go directly to your room.

Yes the package delivery used to leave your stuff in your room up untill a couple of years ago. Now you have to go to the gift shop to get your items. All you need to show is a room key or the reciept. Last year I locked my room key in the room and someone from the front desk walked me to my room and opened the door and then I had to show that I was who I was saying I was since my ID was in the room with my key. Anyhow In talking with him on the way there he was telling me that they have limited the number of people that have access to the guest rooms. Therefore if something turns up missing it could be narrowed down usually only to housekeeping having access to your room. At least that is what I was told by a CM at POR.
