Stuff like this really shouldn't happen....

I understand and respect that. Doesn’t it constantly bring you down though? If it were me, I would have a constant cloud over my head whilst on this site.

You might want to ask that of the many members here who spend the vast majority of their time griping in N&R. As I posted earlier, the VAST majority of my posts are in the Chit Chat thread, and not even Disney related.

Of course it disappoints me, but, not to the point of some sort of cloudy depression.
I joined here back in '12 because of my overall love for Disney, but, I'm no Disney apologist...when they screw up they need to be called on it.
And, when I see something like what the OP posted, I sometimes feel the need to chime in.
Kinda' what this site is for, I always thought...not just the Pixie Dusters playground, but open to all discussions and opinions...the good, the bad and the ugly.

You expect this at the state fair, or Walmart. Walt was huge about cleanliness in his parks and the Disney parks echoed this for years. Ive never seen one that bad, and it doesn't feel like the Disney world I know. I'm sure that seems like a small problem and very first world issues, but it feels like the parks getting away from walts vision.
"The park is getting away from Walt's vision." Based off a single photo of a trash can on the internet?

No one has said that.

When you combine the trash with the short staffing, parking rate rises, AP cost rises, night parties, etc, etc then it is getting away from Walt's vision.
Thanks Pooh, that's exactly what I'm saying. Sorry I didn't write a novel, but its one more piece in the experience going from the original vision to a corporate greed. Regardless if this is a one off, monorail doors, trash over flowing, trash on the ground wouldn't have happened at the old parks. They were spotless!!! I'm not one of those people who is like walt wouldn't like this, he would do this. We have no idea and honestly the world has changed so much that there is no way to tell what he would think. But Disney was always supposed to be clean, he hated gum on the ground and on park benches and trash being over flowing (that's documented.. sorry no time to find and post), And everytime ive been its been clean.. not as clean as the 80s or 90s but still clean.. but its been going down and I'm sure that's cast cuts and the much bigger crowds are probably harder to keep up with.

An isolated trash can with overflowing trash does not represent the state of TWDC or WDW.

Nor should the same trash can insight this sort of reaction. I’d be willing to bet just about anything that a trash can overflowed at least once during the not-so-distant past with concrete cleaner than your kitchen table.

Its not that it never happened in the past. The issue is that happens much more frequently now and is not taken care of in a timely fashion. I do not blame the CM's. It is fairly obvious that over the last year or so that they have drastically cut back on staffing. Now you have less staff to keep up with higher level of crowds.

How often do you visit? It is fairly easy to overlook these things when you havent been to WDW in years and have no way to witness the changes. People on the boards here will often say that the people who notice the small problems such as burned out lights or overflowing trash cans are looking for problems to complain about. That is not true. We visit very often and we do not look for these things. You just cant help but notice it at some point.

Felt the need to take a picture while we were standing in line for Buzz Lightyear in standby. The garbage can was past full and there was trash all over the waiting line area. Told a CM about it and 20 minutes later no one had done anything to clean it. This was the first week of May and was not a busy time.
When did this bad show start being ok at Disney?

It is just an isolated incident. Probably a new guy that wasn't familiar with their rounds yet. Or somebody called in sick. Or three families of 12 just ditched all their trash at the same time.

The hypothesis could continue, but I'll leave it at that.

Just because it happened doesn't mean its 'Ok'. Circumstances do happen.

that the state of that trash can is not acceptable and justifies corrective action in some form is beyond reproach.

is this scenario indicative of issues related to the current state of the resort as a whole?
... quite possibly, but not necessarily.
