I don't recall seeing them on from late Feb to early April. But I could be wrong.
Maybe they turned them off so Meg can't find her way back from the west coast :lookaroun :ROFLOL:
They weren't on in late September/early October.
Everyone else is neck deep in conspracies so I will get on the ball too. I bet the lights are gone because they are being refurb'ed and they will make a grand return with the hideous hat disappears. It only makes sense right. :lookaroun
That just made about as much sense as props from something defunct showing up in a back lot as a sign that it is returning. :ROFLOL:
Thanks. Was hoping you would see this thread. I'm hoping it is the first scenario, but fearing it is the second. Perhaps there is hope of a return when the hat is finally removed, and the Chinese Theater is looked at again as the focal point of Hollywood Blvd. The searchlights are very much still up there. They haven't been on in many months.
There were a few fanned out, and then two moving search lights that circled the fanned ones in the sky. In addition, there were two fanned out in a "V" on the top of the Animation Courtyard Arch/Entryway. The latter two came back for a VERY short amount of time a couple months ago, then went away again.
Apparently there are some safety/accessibility issues getting to these units...non-related to an incident or accident. And they were ordered shut off because half of them stopped working...with no way to get to them to maintain them. I believe it had to do with untethered cast members working within 6 feet of a rooftop.
They could install safety equipment and wires to make this safely accessible to get to these "sky trackers". Because of the length that they've been out of show already, one of two things has happened...
(*) They are stuck in a very long structural engineering battle to get these safety wires installed. Sometimes this process takes MANY months...and gets put on the back burner to more "pertinent" issues.
(*) They figured the cost to implement safety features, and lack of guest complaints have deemed this unnecessary...and they've dropped this issue way down the list, or off the table altogether. Seems to be the common way that Maintenance and Engineering does business these days.
