I just got back from my WDW trip. Last Monday, my familys first full day there, we went to AK. I had been reading about Expedition Everests problems on here before our trip, so I knew there were some things that weren't working. But I didn't expect for it to be shut down! Our first ride it was great! The arm didn't work, but thats not that big of a deal to me; it was still fun. We decided to go on it again right after since the line wasn't that long. Right after the part where you go backwards and the shadow of the yeti is shown ripping up the tracks, we got stuck! At first we thought it was just one of the Disney "temporary stops", since thats what the guy over the loudspeaker told us. Then, after about fifteen minutes, he came back on and told us a CM would help escort us off the ride. All the lights came on and we had to wait for people to help us off. The first thing they said when they got there (we were the last to get off becuase we were stuck at the VERY TOP of the mountain) was that we were not allowed to have cameras or video cameras on while being taken off the ride (darn!). It was so cool though. We had to walk down 17 flights of stairs, but we also were able to see the inside of the mountain! I don't know a lot about engineering stuff, so I can't tell you anything about that, but it was a cool experience that not many people will ever have. Then we got fast pass tickets to come back any time we chose once the ride was back up, which it was by the end of the day. It was actually kind of cool being stuck on the ride, and makes for quite a story!
