Stuck in Spaceship Earth

Has anyone else ever had this problem. Everytime I go on this ride I get stuck, and I've been on it 4 times now. The worst was a couple year ago when we were stuck leaning backwards for 10 minutes, and they had to put the lights on. We were in one of the scenes with the stars all around, and saw the christmas light strands hanging from the ceiling, and some nice spiderwebs. I'm not complaining about the ride, but just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. It's a running joke with may family that if any of us go on the ride it will without a doubt stop for on reason or another.

I ALWAYS get stuck on Spaceship Earth. And it always seems to be at the 'printing press' scene. After a while, that kid saying 'Extra, Extra' gets really annyoing!

I almost always get stopped, presumably to load a wheelchair, but that's just the slight downside to all the omnimover attractions. It's always a tollerable wait because of course those whom are bound to a chair deserve to experiance the attraction too.

However, I have never been stopped on Spaceship Earth due to actual technical difficulties (that I'm aware of anyway)

We ALWAYS get stuck on the scene leaning backwards. It really kills my neck! It never fails that it is that scene where we stop for longer than normal wheelchair loading times.

I completly understand wheelchair loading times, but i'm talking about waiting ten minutes leaning back, sideways, and hearing some guy say the word "communications" 500 times. I'll still ride again, but I'm sure I'll get stuck again.

I've had the wonderfull pleasure ( :animwink: ) of getting stuck at the top of the attraction as your cars turn sideways to look at Earth. The lights came on for about 1 minute and I got to see just how big that room is. And yes, there is a hatch in the ceiling!

Been stuck twice...

I have been stuck on Spaceship Earth twice...once was for a VERY brief time (probably loading wheelchair person)...and the other was for about 5 minutes, and THAT time, like you we were in the section at the end when you're lying backwards....I kinda enjoyed it tho' :D We've been on the attraction probably 15-20 times in the years we've been going to WDW and I think 2 out of 15 or 20 is not too bad a percentage??

There were no technical difficulties when I went on SSE, just wheelchair loading. I have to admit, though, it gave us extra time to admire the Hidden Mickey right next to us...

I don't think I have ever been on Spaceship Earth without it getting stuck at least twice per ride. I have always wondered what is wrong with this ride that it keeps doing that. I always get stuck around the caveman area and a few times backwards. Too bad I can't get stuck more often in Rome (I love that burning smell :) ) Then I wouldn't mind it so much.

4 more days till the Poly!! :sohappy:

i would love for that to happen to me at least once in my life. im riding with yall since that is common when you visit. i would love to see it with the lights on....... (uuummmmmm, lol)

i was once with a friend that had never been and we went to ride CoP and it "crashed" on every scene. so we had to restart the entire ride anfter they reset it 4 times. wow, talk about having something stuck in your head.... "its a great big beautiful tomorrrrrow"

stuck

Actually it's not "stuck" at all. It's a stoppage. The ride is purposely stopped to let someone on who is slower.

I think it's great in this attraction getting stopped.

I love the part where you are stopped while leaning back. That ride nearly puts me to sleep on the decent.

I don't know if any of you have seen the Austin Powers where Fat Bast#$@ is hanging from the rope, and says very sacastically "Well, Isn't this Magical" Anyway, when we were leaning backwards, sideways, and the lights came on, some behind us said that and I nearly fell out of our little pod laughing. Nothing better could have described that moment.

Could it be YOU??   Maybe too many negative waves???

But seriously, You really should see rides as machines with electronics and those things break down once in a while, and it's just tough luck it braeks down every time you're on it... IF I'm riding Test Track it breaks down sometimes... very often really... because of computer faillure... I still keep on smiling...
(I've got no other choice) :D :D :D

You haven't truly experienced Spaceship Earth until you've stopped, backwards on the return decent for about ten minutes, getting really dizzy from watching the lights flash over and over and over and over and over in front of you on the ceiling.

It's part of the charm. ;)

Never any crazy amount of time. I has stopped for loading someone in a wheelchair (I assume). Does not bother me at all.

The only thing I have had bad on the attraction is a few trips back the speaker in my seat was so freaking loud it actually hurt my ears the entire time. It was a trully horrible experience that gave me a headache for the rest of the day. :(

First time at on SSE ever and we get stopped twice. Right by the monks (or whatever) writing and then backwards at the end. I love the ride to death, but twice in one ride is a bit much.

I always get stuck on Spaceship Earth too. Usually it's when you're going backwards and only for a few minutes, but the last time, I got stuck in the Reniassiance scene for maybe 15 minutes. Watching the animatronics do the same motions over and over again got boring and slightly creepy. At the same time I was cracking up laughing every time the "please remain seated" announcement came on.

Oh and StevenT... I LOVE your new avatar! Love me some Bootsy Collins!

I just saw the other thread about making out on rides. Spaceship Earth seems to be mentioned alot. Hummmmmm????? Makes me wonder alot about the constant stoppages, and how to fill the time. Maybe it's not as bad as I have been making it out to be. Giddee Up!!!

if i ever get stuck on the regular part, im going to replace that boring communications maniquin. how ausome would that be to start doing stuff out of the ordinary like yelling at the switch board or somethng, "no, i cant connect you to mr eisner's office, he cant talk, he has his head up his right now". lol
