Hi everyone! My mother in law has seizures and needs to stay away from Strobe lights...which rides should I not take her on? Thanks!

If its a something as serious as that, I would contact Disney for an offical list.

That being said, I really can't think of anything that contains strobe lights, except maybe the not-yet-opened Laugh Floor.

Cranium Command used to have flashing lights, but I don't know if they were strobe....its been too long

you shouldn't have any problem getting a list like this from guest relations. this is a common concern.
some of the attractions may also have this listed on the warnings board

I imagine that the warning signs in front of the rides probably have a warning if strobe lights are used, especially since they are a common offender for people with seizures....and you could probably stop at guest relations at each park just to get a complete list.

Rides to Avoid:

Buzz Lightyear
Philharmagic
Winnie the Pooh
Snow White
Pirates
Splash Mt.
Universe of Energy
Body Wars (if open)
Tower of Terror
Rock n Roller Coaster
Star Tours
Dinosaur
Everest
Festival of the Lion King
(possibly Finding Nemo the Musical)
Disneyquest
Enchanted Tiki Room

That's about it. Contact Disney on this subject, they are more than willing to help. There may even be alternate showings w/o storbes...but I really don't know. I would contact them!

Space Mtn and Dinosaur are first that come to mind. A family member is on medication to prevent seizures, and she will ride these attractions but close her eyes during the strobe lighting effects. Each person is different though, esp when it comes to this condition.

Don't forget the nighttime shows. Both Illuminations and Fantasmic use very bright white pyro exploding fairly close. I am not sure if this would be an issue, but just trying to warn.

I would definitely contact Disney on this one, especially with something as serious as seizures. But really the first ride that strikes me as potentially dangerous is Dinosaur, it really uses a lot of those types of affects.

I have to be careful with flashing lights as they can trigger off migraines. Most of the rides did not affect me, although I did not ride RNRC or TOT, but the lights at the end of Buzz L. are really bad. I had to close my eyes, and cover my eyes completely with my hands. It is also the bit where they take your photo, and I had some funny looks from the CMs, as my hands were over my face in the photo!

Man after seeing that list it looks like all the magic kingdom rides are out of the question.

Where is the one on Splash? I never noticed it.

My guess is that the poster was thinking of the on-ride camera flash on Splash. I don't have any first-hand knowledge of strobe-induced-seizures, but my understanding is that it's multiple flashes at specific rates. The Splash on-ride photo is a single flash (that's really only bright at night) for each log, unlike the on-ride photo on RnRC, which is a set of 6 flashes in rapid succession, one for each car as the train launches.
The single-flash also is the factor in PhilharMagic. There is only one bright flash that I can think of, a couple minutes into the show.

I second (or third) the suggestions of contacting Disney for an "official" list.
