here's what I've been able to get from the Florida Highway Patrol website, since the local news won't be on for another hour. 3 crashes currently on Disney property... one with injuries (doesn't specify, but they don't list fatal on their site... so it's not hard to add 2 and 2)

Crash on E BACKSTAGE LN & OVERPASS LANE (by Epcot)

Crash with injuries on WORLD DR & N VISTA BLVD (by the Magic Kingdom)

Crash on E BUENA VISTA DR & BACKSTAGE LN (also by Epcot)

I'd have to guess it's the Magic Kingdom one.. that location they gave is just after the Magic Kingdom turnstiles, if you're headed towards the Contemporary resort.

Yikes. Well hopefully no one that wasn't racing got hurt.

Those Disney roads seem perfect for racing though, unfortunately. So many of the back ones have minimal traffic.

Plenty of relatively well kept roads, minimal traffic similar to office parks after everything shuts down. I would assume very few, if any, actual cops around since Disney has "security."

Disney's roads and these conditions are really an ideal haven for racers.

When will they learn that street racing is dangerouse? And out of all the places to do it at, Disney! They could have killed innocent tourists. I have a friend who's down there now, and that just scares me that people want to make it unsafe at WDW.

because, without knowing any details, I'm 95% sure the people involved are under 20 years of age and don't think before they do things like that. If they are older, I apologize in advance for stereotyping, but events like this are usually done without much brain matter being involved.

Sad.

How do you know it was teenagers?

I don't know yet, but its 100% possible it wasn't... in fact, I'm almost leaning torwards it being someone in their 20s...

Anyways... I couldn't find anything about this anywhere on the internet... so until we find out, I guess we don't know the age of the people...

From what News Channel 13 said, it was on Hotel Plaza Blvd.
I believe that was the one that had me sitting in traffic for about 45 minutes last night. They had to lift someone out with a helicopter and everything.

they were teenagers, two males were killed and one female was severly injured. (source cable channel news 13)

there was another fatality from street racing in seminole county on Monday, so I'll gurantee there will be a increased police presence looking for this type of thing.

as for the WDW crash, I was coming home from work around/after the crash and there were a ton of florida highway patrol officers and ocesola county sherriffs out in the area. last I heard the are looking for a white or grey ford focus with ground effects, sadly that doesn't narrow it down to much.

I don't know. I'm a teenager. I live in New York and I see street racing all the time, mostly teenagers. So whenever I think about street racing and who's doing it; teenagers come to mind.

update... the car that crashed was a Champagne colored 95-98 Nissan Maxima which the kids wrapped around a tree.

Teenagers. Dey think dey know everyting.

I"m not ribbing on teenagers, just making a little joke.

It's not just teenagers that street race, so i'm not basing the accident on that. It's a shame that someone lost a life, and the sad part is that it won't prevent this kind of thing from happening again. I could see how the disney roads should be mostly empty late at night, but people shouldn't do this kind of thing. Innocent people could be killed, and it's a shame this kind of thing goes on as frequently as it does.

street racing

Does anyone know if its possible that these would be disney college program kids in this crash? I was on the program and everone I knew with a car had a lead foot, in fact they would always race home to vista way after work on the disney roads sometimes in access of 100 mph

I'm not a parent (and with the Florida legislature the way it is, I probably never will be), but how can the parent's of these kids that street race not notice the money and time spent souping up their cars?

It just kills me to see people thowing away their lives like that.
