storms in sept?

i asked this question in a post a few days ago and heard nothing back about the storms! i love the storms in orlando i think there amazing! espes when your used to the ones in the UK (which are rubbish) so i was just wondering in sept doya still tend to get storms early afternoon? and the heavy rain? :wave:

I've been there a few septembers and octobers. The storms are not like clockwork like they are in the summer. In fact, we didn't get many storms in the fall at all, unless you count hurricanes :lol: .

I have been there in Sept before and I have seen storms role in from 2p to 6pm but not everyday.

I was there last year in September and there wasn't a single day of rain. Other times, you get late afternoon storms, but they are quick and over soon. Biggest thing to worry about - that is still hurricane season. Even then, the parks will close for a day and reopen the next morning as usual. I always hope we get inclement weather on the day I am supposed to depart so I can extend my stay by a day and avoid returning to work an extra day or two.

Glad to know someone else appreciates a good storm! I have lived in Florida (just outside of Tampa) all of my 37 years. When we are not in "drought mode" September is generally a stormy month.

I've always wanted to visit the UK. If you don't have cool storms, what to you have? Drizzlely days?

Weve never run into any major bad weather (yet) in september. I remember one evening at epcot a few years ago, it was black and there was unbelievable lightening and thunder off to the east. We hurried to get out of there before this big storm got there and we even joked that those people who were just coming into the park must know something we dont! By the time we got to our resort (CBR) it had cleared and was gorgeous out...not a drop of rain ever hit. Maybe they really did know something!

September is our favorite time to go and we have missed the hurricanes for the last couple of years. Just luck I guess. I only recall getting rain one time and that was in 2000 (our honeymoon). Other than that the weather has been nice when we have been there...it can be hot though. We're going again this September and crossing our fingers that we avoid the rain again this year!

we have reallly rainy days and cold windy days! but at the moment its really hot its the hottest july we have ever seen (been told dont know how true it is but in most parts of country its been getting up 10 120f) and we have been told that august is going to be even hotter. i love a good storm for my 21st me and my dad are planning to go tornado chasing :sohappy: cant wait fingers crossed it happens. in the UK we get storms but there not as spectactular as the ones in the states! they just dont feel the same!

During Sept we usually tend to stay pretty dry, now once we tend to hit october it rains alot sometimes all day everyday!

I've been going to WDW in September for years, and while not the daily storm at 4pm as in the summer, you can expect a few good storms unless...

- there's a hurricane heading north on the east coast, heading for landfall around the Carolinas. That will pull the moisture away, and you will have nothing but beautiful weather.
- it's a full-on drought, and then everything is on the miserable side.
- there's a hurricane inbound - and then it's wacky wild weather for a couple of days.

Be careful what you wish for Pinkabell - Last time I headed over a couple of years ago in September my departure was delayed a week because of those storms. When I got back flights out has been cancelled because of another storm.

We've seen rainy days there in May and in September. In general, the morning tends to be sunny and it often gets cloudy in the afternoon, sometimes with rain and sometimes not. Last time we went (early May 2005), we arrived at Epcot for dinner and Illuminations just in time for a sustained torrential downpour (weather forecast hadn't mentioned much chance of rain at all). That whole week was unusually cool and cloudy. In Sept. 2004 we arrived a day after one of the hurricanes passed through, and even had to circle 6 miles high in northern Florida for an hour before the Orlando airport was re-opened. The weather is always a source of uncertainty, in spring, summer and fall.

I went last October and we not only got thunderstorms...we got a hurricane.
Had tickts to MNSHP and it was a disaster...we got drenched and all parades and fireworks were canceled and the parks were all closed for half a day the next day.

Living in North Carolina now, after living in Tampa for 20 years, you really start to miss the storms. One of the reasons I'm so excited we're going in August this year is the hope for at least one good storm. I miss them so!

As for Sept, as stated by SamatBCV, the storms in Sept are not anywhere near the level they are during the summer, but they are there. Chances are though, you'll see more sun and less storms! Have a wonderful trip!

We love September at WDW, because of the smaller crowds. We like to go the week of NOJ. Most of the time we have not run into the normal afternoon t-storms, but 2 years ago we were between hurricanes and the parks were extremely quite....except for one very drizzly night it was great.

Although that doesn't sound like good news since you are looking for storms.

hehe! dont get me wrong i love the sun! i mean come on we dont get alot of it in the UK! but the storms are just AMAZING, i could just watch them forever!
