If nothing else, I hope they do mission to Mars again for the 50th. I know it’s not likely but at least it would be something and it would be pretty cheap since the theatre still exists in the same basic set up.

If it sits empty for the 50th that will be really sad.

agree, going to be sad if they dont get an actual attraction in there for the 50th. With the capacity issues of this park they need every bit of space in operation as much as possible, the place is bursting at the seams with no expansion in terms of capacity and space, except for some widening of sidewalks, but that is not enough. And its not sounding like they plan on doing anything anytime soon, time is getting short at this point for that space. Their focus seems to be all about selling alcohol and cupcakes than about a good attraction. :banghead:

Jeffrey Jones, a.k.a the principal from Ferris Bueller, was the main alien in the preshow. In 2002, he was arrested for child p*rn and soliciting a minor and plead no contest. He served 5 years and has been a registered offender ever since.

Understandably, The Mouse cut ties to him pretty quickly.
I had no clue! Wow.

While a massive overhaul may be on the horizon, I can guarantee the chances you see the return of A.E. are less than zero. Even if the changes to coming Tomorrowland make it have less of what you call the MK’s “kiddie park” persona, there’s no way Disney is going to take things that far in the MK ever again. The best you can hope for Disney creating an experience of similar intensity again would probably be at DHS.
—which is where it should have been since Day One.

Didn't help that a convicted pedophile is in the pre-show.
And in the main show, and his voice is in the 2nd preshow. Basically, even on the incredibly off chance Disney brought Alien Encounter back, there's no doubt in my mind Disney wouldn't want Jeffery Jacques Jones involved, which would lead to immense reshoots, and knowing this fanbase (and, to be fair, Disney), the revival would just be met with a bunch of "yeah it's pretty good, but who was that guy who played Clench? Abysmal. Bring back Jeffery."

I'd assume any hypothetical A.E. return would need a rewrite and reshoots anyway. We're not talking a Captain E.O. tribute of just showing the original, dated footage. It would likely mean a complete redesign of the entire show, storyline tweaks, new effects and video footage for a modern audience.

I'd have been fine with a reworked Stitch show as well but I guess TDO and Imagineering felt they couldn't make it work.

It would be nice to see some of the in theater effects, long turned off.. back on again if they brought AE back.
But I agree, I think you'll see them restore JII to it's full original 1980's glory, before A.E ever comes back.

Sad but not terribly suprising. I hooe something is there.

Eh, today it would just be CGI voiced by a random C-list background actor in a Marvel movie.

And I’d be okay with that if it meant I got to enjoy AE at Studios. :)

So...this kinda fits the conversation of this area...
There's an auction of Disney stuff happening soon and AE (and it's concepts) is part of it:

I'm sure @marni1971 has most of this stuff in that darn coffee table book he brags about but there could be something here that is "new".

In case anyone can't see the links to the AE stuff in the tweet:

I didn’t realize Tomorrowland 2055 got so far along in development. The drawing for the Disneyland version reads “END OF D.D. PHASE 5/24/91”. D.D. stands for Design Development, which for Disney is design phase 5 of 6 before the “blueprints” are issued for construction. Disney would have been lining up their contractors and was literally about to start knocking stuff down before they pulled the plug on Tomorrowland 2055.

The design manual states that it is from the feasibility stage (3 of 6). To many, that plan probably looks like a “blueprint” but in actuality that document and everything that was done during that phase, likely represent no more than a quarter of the design work to actually build an attraction.
