Don't forget about the Carousel of Progress and the Speedway!

That so true.... I overlook the CoP because it is a classic and is not looking forward at all..... It looks back at "Progress". Speedway is a waste of real estate in "Tomorrowland". It is also not really anything but a "Fantasy" of little ones driving cars. Petrol based combustion engines are not the future. Electric cars, okay. but still not "future". It is also not "futuristic" even with the old "Indy" partner themeing. I guess this ride could get the Wreck-it Ralph overlay.

But you are right. CoP and Speedway are there. Also not the future.

Why is everything closing when we finally have a trip booked. We booked last year...yup last year of Osborne lights, looking forward to animal kingdom at night stuff not sure that's going to happen, now the stitch ride. I've never done it but was looking forward to trying it once...I guess that's not going to happen. I'm thinking this is a bad year to go.

There is still plenty to do. You will still have a great time. You have just encountered a minority of cynical and pessimistic fans that want more. Honestly, there is nothing in this attraction that is ground breaking. Turn the lights off and have someone press down on your shoulders, breath on your neck, blow air on your legs and burp hot dog in your face. Then look at a picture of a crazy looking "Stitch"...

while Stitch needs to go... I'm still baffled the Tomorrowland Speedway is still as is taking up a huge amount of space, running with smelly gasoline engine go carts, and with little to no theming and definitely without any "Tomorrow"land feel at all.

so many possibilities there, especially with it kinda being the attraction connecting with Fantasyland...you could go that direction (ex. Candy Crush, Cars, etc.) or demo it and built 2 attractions

Do you think Disney will use this downtime to test stuff for the next tenant, or will they just enjoy not having to staff the attraction?

YodaMan and Rob562 hinted at this as well. With the open, close, open, close, open, close approach, how will they do much until it completely closes for the changeover? (perhaps begin fumigation to attempt to remove the chilidog aroma) Looking to see if one side is walled off will be a good indicator.

For those curious, the calendar indicates that the attraction is down from Oct 2 - Nov 18, reopen from Nov 19 - 26, down from Nov 27 - Dec 16, reopen from Dec 17 - Jan 2, and then no information is given from Jan 3 onward yet.
Hmmm, curious. 2 separate closures periods, each about 2 months long. 2 theater spaces (right?). Would it be just refurb/clean-up per theater, one at a time? It's not enough time to shoe-horn WIR in there considering the rumored attraction, nor would this closure schedule make sense if a replacement attraction was being installed.

and for the record, my vote is still for a Miles From Tomorrowland attraction to replace SGE. WIR can go somewhere else. I know the argument of Disney Junior properties as major attractions, and DisJr's place at MK vs HS. But I think it would be perfect. Obvious fit into the land, and the theater style layout is great for a race around space with Miles and the Ostrich thing (if they go with the projection dome that was rumored about - Minion style).

You know I'm surprised they haven't made the space a meet and greet and call it the Tomorrowland Character Spot.

They could easily use the first lobby/holding room for a temp M&G location. (Or how about an inside lounge/phone charging space?)

Eons ago, when they were first transitioning from AE to Stitch, the attraction was closed but they used that first lobby as a family photo location during the Christmas Party. (Back when you got a free photo with Party admission...)
