Stitch's GE UPDATE 5/5/05

This is my 3rd time on the attraction and first since they instituted any changes after opening day.

1 - we entered the LEFT chamber, didn't look like the Right one was open.

2 - the shadows of Stitch running around on the walls DOES help feel like there is more to the show then just sitting there in the darkness bored.

3 - you see the Stitch AA come back into the center tube for a few seconds during the MIDDLE of the show, which also helps break up the dark parts.

4 - the cannons now shoot the walls where Stitch's shadow is running around, another good thing

5 - NO annoying little kids making inane comments (look, there's Stitch, Man, he's fast). Hopefully this is a permanent thing.

6 - Chilli dog breathe still there and it seems to last LONGER. You get the normal one the 1st time, then a longer more sustained 2nd blast.

7 - still has the cell phone part and Stitch jokes.

8 - the new ending, while not great is muuuuuuuuuch superior to the Astro Orbitor. I was thankful that Cinderella just kicked him out the door. I was expecting her to beat him up or something, but he just laughs after he is kicked out. Animation on the photo of the castle is not 100% believable, but if your a tourist and not looking for it, it blends well enough.

9 - most of the crowd loved the show, I heard a few kids and adults screaming, but overall very positive, which I hadn't experienced before. Also, EVERYONE laughed at the pre show line, "I think I oiled myself". I like it, it's funny, get over it.

10 - the LEFT chamber dumped us out into Mickey's Star Traders. A CM said the RIGHT chamber dumps you to Merchant of Venus.

Overall I was impressed by how much the few more seconds of the Stitch AA during the middle of the show, the lights going on a off and few times more, the shadow & newer ending really make this an above average attraction.

I actually enjoyed. It could still use some fine tuning here and there, but no longer a complete turd. I think they should have the characters come back onto the video monitor, like they did in AE, maybe have Stitch get up close to the camera or something. It would add another element to the show and more diversity.

Good to hear its not a complete waste of time now. From what i had been hearing, Stitch was the worst decision Disney has ever made in any of its Parks. I think I'll still be dissappointed though because I was such a huge Alien encounter fan. Glad to hear though they did try to fix it up.

This is FAAAAR from the worst. Stitch was such a popular character, that when they initially screwed up an attraction with such POTENTIAL, the backlash is going to be that much more severe.

Hence any changes are going to be viewed at through super skepitcal eyes by people now.

Removing the original Journey Into Imagination still goes down as the dumbest move. Disney accepted admitted screwing up tells you something there.

:D

I actually enjoyed the "middle" JIYY (don't get me wrong, I loved the original). The current one, though, is an abomination.

Edit: Oh, and on topic, great to hear. It doesn't reconcile AE, but it does reconcile the fact that Stitch was doomed to be one of the worst Disney mistakes ever.

I did ... I thought the whole train effect was neat. I mean I didn't come out of it going "AGAIN, AGAIN!" but it was FAR better than what's there now. I can't believe they continue to neglect it, but I think at this point they figure they can only renovate it so much so they've just put it on the backburner for a couple years until they fix other things.

But there are no new story changes Kevin? I thought that was going to be the biggest part of "Part 3" of the attraction. Oh well.

At least they took out the children's comments in the binural soundtrack. Those were easily the worst lines ever in a Disney attraction.

Don't worry you aren't the only one that liked Journey Into YOUR Imagination. Sure it wasn't even close to the original, but I enjoyed it.

I always cringe when whats-his-face is on the moon and moving side to side singing. Of all the Monty Python members, he was the LEAST amusing for a good reason.

I was tempted to hit Stitch today. Tempted, but I'm glad I split when I did since the rain was just minutes away from WDW.

What a thread drift  ...See I'm a HUGE Figment fan, so I hated the second one. the third one brought back Figgy and "One Little Spark" so I enjoy it much more.

The storyline was weaker when the whole show was weak. Now that they made some improvements, it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.

Aftr seeing both pre shows 3 times now, aside from the lackluster animation on the Grand Council woman & spaceship driver (Gantu parts are fine for some reason) they set the story up nicely.

Yeah the cell phone and chilli dog bits don't make sense and I dislike like them, but at least this time you see the Stitch AA for a few more seconds, cannons seem to be doing more stuff, you see the Stitch shadow running around the wall, so you are more immersered in the chaos, and enoying the show.

So when Gantu releases you, you're not all peeved off thinking "what was the point of that". They still could tie that up a little better, by maybe saying "we can no longer have recruits handling Level 3 Prisoners" or "we need to clean up the mess he made, release the recruits". The new ending lasts a bit longer, so everything feels less 'abrupt'.

I guess the fact that I was enjoying myself more, I was more forgiving on the weak parts this time around, like any attraction.

I wish they would have kept the child's voive on the audio. But instead replace it with something like... "Mom, I'm scared", "Something is biting me", "*scream*!!! it hurts". :lookaroun :D

Or maybe the heartwarming "Who's brain is this?" :animwink:

Hey, as I always say, it's good they're updating it. I mean, I liked it to begin with (don't hurt me) but an improvement on anything is generally, well, an improvement. BTW, there is, IMHO, an even worse ride change than Journey Into Imagination:
The Enchanted Tiki Room - Under New Management.
At least my family still rides Journey, but we have shunned "the birds" for quite a while now.

I think the stitch attraction is alright, it isn't super-great but it isn't the worst attraction either. I can't wait to see the changes in a couple of days.

As far as the Tiki room goes at least it isn't updated with a Pixar character right? I mean everybody is complaining about Disney's reliance on Pixar. And Iago is one of the Disney Studios animation's. (Sorry for the continued thread drift)

Basically my point is that the Tiki Room is a recently "rehabbed/overlayed" attraction that has no Pixar connection.

I enjoy the NEW Tiki birds. Let's be honest, the original show was a TOTAL snoozefest, except for the classic theme song.

NO MORE THREAD DRIFT in posts that I start. I will NOT stand for it :fork: :fork: :fork:
