Stitch GE update

I think as I see all these posts I'm getting even more excited for Stitch's Great Escape. AE was really getting boring ....

I remember I was so scared to go on it and then when I went on it, it was like "eh?"

Stitch's GE sounds like it'll use the same elements, but maybe the humor in the script will make it more enjoyable for everyone and not let down the older teens/kids who might think its too kiddy. I'm glad theyre putting in characters into attractions and as much as you people complain about it, for God's sakes some of you are in your 30s-40s. Disneyworld is all about the kids, the families. These kids want to see characters and yeah maybe if you put in Donald at SSE that'd be a bit weird but in Tomorrowland it really doesn't matter. Buzz is a huge hit with the little ones, as well as older kids and adults. SGE I predict will have the same effect.

The reason AE did so poorly was because the Imagineers did not have enoguh time for designing/building the ride.

It would have probably also done better if it had the original Alien from Alien instead of the alien that was actually on the ride.

They had enough time, and it was what it was meant do be, and it certainly didn't do poorly...

There was no permission from CBS for the alien monster, they gave it once, after that never again...

I gotta disagree here. AE had a wonderful original storyline. I personally would have changed nothing about it. The Fox "Alien" would have added nothing to the attraction. And believe me there would be no difference in popularity between the Fox character and what we had. The real reason AE closed didn't have much to do with lack of popularity.

Just one question...

Are you going to be strapped in like you were on AE? I sure hope not, as this may make a height requirement and make it more intence, beacause little kids don't like to be strapped in any more than a car-seat or lapbar. This would really make some people nervous. It made me nervous, so i never went on AE. If your not moving why are you strapped in. I seriously hope Disney does
NOT put in any restraints for this show. but, by the looks of the concept art, there are restraints. Dang. :brick:  :(

Why does everyone think AE was a bad attraction now?

Some people didn't "get it" from day one. Very few people thought that it was a "bad" attraction, but some people didn't like it. No matter if you liked it or not you had it admit it was very well done.

The restraints are the heart of the attraction. All of the binural sound, hot breath, and tongue on the head effects come from these. If they chose to take them out for SGE, the attraction wouldn't last very long. But at the same time I can see how very little ones wouldn't like it. I guess it's just too bad because the analysis moduels are here to say. And they have to stay if SGE wants to have any chance for survival.

Just because YOU'RE not moving doesnt mean stupid guests won't get up and walk around if the show didn't have restraints. Not to mention most of the effects come from the restraints themselves. Not being strapped = disaster.

Also, parts of the show are in the dark. Can't have anyone wandering around in the dark. You could get hurt. Like when the pod snaps down. You could kill your hands. (That part was in the light though)

You gotta remember folks, there are people who let their kids ______ in the bushes, climb things they're not supposed to,punch/kick characters, etc. This doesn't even pertain to kids, there are stupid adults as well. Not having restraints would just be bad and the attraction would close in no time. It would be very dangerous and no offense but I don't think Disney will cater to the claustrophobic guest and risk people going crazy inside that theater. (not to mention this is not your typical theater.)

The "restraints" are a must for this attraction. They really aren't restraints as much as they are an accepted way to put a speaker holder on your shoulders. For the sound effects to fell like they are right behind you or to your side or whatever your head needs to be exactly in the right spot in relation to the speakers. If it's off a little bit, you do not get the effect. The imagineers thought that an over the shoulder roller coaster style restaint would be readily accepted by an audience and "trick" the audience into getting their heads into the propper position.

Don't believe me? When you go to see Stitch, and I'm sure you all will, see the show once sitting in the right spot, then see it again and lean forward just a few inches. It will be a WHOLE other less intense ride. That's the only way I could get my wife on AE was after I taught her this trick.

Happy now Aimster?

Okay, I'm probably gonna get blasted for this but...

It's not a ride! It's a SHOW! You don't go anywhere! The seats don't move. You just sit there and watch the show happen around you!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Sorry... I really don't mean to be so -retentive about this but it just drives me nuts for some reason.

Just think of it as a "ride for your senses" ;)

Agreed. It's a ride in your mind. That's what made AE so fun. Your imagination can always paint something more horrific in the dark than the Imagineers can in the light........with the exception of Country Bears Jamboree. :lookaroun

I agree with dxwwf3,

I wouldnt have changed anything about AE, besides some of the sound effects, but even those would be minimal. I'm gonna miss it.:(
