Stitch Chamber Down All Week

I think it's been beaten to death. No matter what they put in "the tube" it's still a seated attraction with dark parts and anamatronics. If it gets any more kid friendly I can only imagine how lame it'll be.

-It's in the dark.
-It has an alien lifeform escape from a holding tube.
-The alien touches you and breaths on you and you get splashed with whatever flavor of the week.
-There are sounds of breaking glass and screams right in your ear.

How can that be kid friendly without getting rid of those effects? If you get rid of those effects then there is no attraction. :hammer:

EXACTLY. This ride, no matter how many re-re-refurbishments you put it through, can't become kid-friendly enough. With AE, it was marketed as a scary attraction, and it was. People got a great thrill out of it, it did what it was meant to do.

Now, we have an attraction that is being marketed as fun and kid-friendly, however it is still too intense for most children to be able to handle... but it is not nearly interesting enough for adults to enjoy. Now no one is happy.

This thing needs an overhaul.

For real, most I have seen seemed to enjoy the attraction. Granted I didn't go around looking at ever child I have ever been in the chamber with, but I have yet to see anyone freak out.

consider yourself lucky. Grad nite was the first time I've experienced the attraction without a kid screaming bloody murder about a.) not wanting to go on to begin with b.) being freaked out by the darkness and special effects or c.) being made very uncomfortable about having to sit in their own seat with that "harness" on.

I will have to look out for that, been on the attraction more times then I can count and have yet to see any of those things.

It seems that this happens to alot of people. I know this because out of all of the 40 to 50 times I saw AE, I swear I only remember seeing crying kids only 4 or 5 times. The other times I saw 5 to 12 year olds (usually males) they were laughing coming out of the theater. Now, of course, that doesn't mean that there weren't plenty of scared kids during AE's tenure, I just didn't see many of them at all.

This truely all depends on the certain audiences you see each show with.

it can be redone, obviously. the problem was keeping the core components of AE. they could have kept the theater in the round setting and kept the lights on. but the problem with SGE is there's no coherent story. that's what disney DOES, they tell incredible stories. this thing just keeps getting worse. when we did the passholder preview, we were flanked by WDW suits with clipboards watching us nervously. they know. :) we didn't see that on Soarin'.

Man I really can't wait to see it. The more negative things I read the more I can't wait to experience this crap. :hammer:

After I saw AE for the first time I liked it so much that I decided to try and recreate it in my own house. I made my sister sit in a chair in the closet, turned off all the light, and recreated the entire show for her complete with the hot breath and alien fingers through her hair. :lookaroun  She was only 5 at the time so her reactions were pretty fun. :)

From the sound of things my version of AE was better than SGE.

It does happen quite frequently. We only remove the kids if they are screaming bloody murder. If a parent approaches me beofre the show and tells me their kid might get scared I have them sit on the end nearest myself so its easier to raise their restraints and remove them from the attraction.

Yes chamber B is down...lines were insane...people not please. I was at turnstiles for 2 hours and no one seemed pleased when they reached me. (wait said about 70 min)

I have not seen SGE yet as we were at WDW last year, and will not be returning until 2007:cry:

At the rate they are going, SGE will have had at least 25 rehabs/redo's and "may" be worth watching by then! I have read so many negative comments over this show.... Having not visited Cal Adv.... Is SGE even worse than Superstar Limo???

Most people will tell you no.

I personally liked Superstar Limo from the videos I've seen of it. It had a nice corny, wink at the audience feel to it, but I can see why some Californians wouldn't appreciate the jabs. Oh well.

Where can I find the video of Superstar Limo? I really don't understand what was so bad about it based on the things I have heard.

Wow, what was wrong with that? It seemed like a cheezy fair ride but it wasn't horrible like a lot of people make it out to be.

Thanks for posting that. That site is pretty awesome.

How cool would it be if they completely restored Alien Encounter for one of the chambers and left the other one for Stitch!? I know that would never happen but it would be awesome!

That would be awesome. They should make different versions for Stitch at least.

1st time participant here. Sorry for interrupting, but AE was scary? To who? I went thru it the 1st time in 97, and it was uninteresting. Am I the exception? I don't go to WDW to get AE. For that, I go to Universal or any other Flagpole parks (or whatever). I go to WDW for Disney ambiance.

Mind you, Stitch IS probably boring. I'm going in July. But it'll be tough to beat AE.
