Sticky Mickey or Tonga Toast

Okay, another question: I've got one day where I'm on my own for breakfast. Which is a better option, a Stickey Mickey at the Concourse Steakhouse or Tonga Toast at the Kona Cafe? I've never had either or even stopped at those resorts, so any info is appreciated.

Thanks

Rob

I think I'll probably be one of the few who say that I really don't care for the Tonga Toast. What exactly is a Sticky Mickey?... a cinnamon roll??? I'll have to try that!

Both are very good. I would suggest that you decide based upon your own personal tastes. Do you like cinnamon rolls or banana stuffed sourdough french toast instead?

I haven't had the Sticky Mickey, but i'd go for that! We tried the Tonga Toast on our last visit because we'd read about it on different forums, so it became a "must-try", not impressed. It was definitely not all it was "cracked up" to be. Good luck in choosing!

Does anyone know if you can get a sticky mickey anywhere else other than the Concourse STeakhouse for bfast??

I had the Tonga Toast back in 89 - never had it since. I wasn't impressed. Sounds better than it is, unless it's changed and improved, which all the food at disney has since back then. But I remember it had way too much sugar and cinammon encrusted on it. It was overkill.

tonga toast at rainforest cafe used to be like a loaf of french toast now that was something but now its just french toast with nuts and strawberries on it still its really good. never had a stickey mickey so i cant give a good opinion on that.

Because, as I stated in the original post on this thread, I've got only one morning where I'm on my own (breakfast the other mornings has arleady been planned while the whole family is together) and I'm trying to decide between the two for that ONE DAY.

Hmm. This post seems like a really cranky response, but it's not meant that way, honest!

No problemo. I was actually leaning toward the Tonga Toast, but noticed on one of the menus on www.wdwig.com that Concourse steakhouse now has a breakfast option that includes mini-sticky-mickeys and eggs benedict. Now, I'm right back where I started and don't know which I want.

here's my original post fromthat other thread....Honestly, I'd go for the Sticky Mickey...you will be hooked!

A "Sticky Mickey" is a little piece of heaven served for breakfast at The Concourse Steakhouse.

Imagine a 6 inch deep baking pan that's also round and about 6 inches across.

Then take a cinnamon sugar dough, shaped so that when baked, it puffs over the top of the pan into 3 circles, making an "artist's representation" of a Mickey head.

This is then drizzled with white icing, and served piping hot with a small pitcher of cinnamin/brown sugar/maple/butter sauce to pour over the top.

You cannot eat one of these on your own, unless it's all that you are having OR you are REALLY hungry.

If you get a chance, try one, you will not be disappointed.

Sticky Mickey all the way!

I too had both on my last visit (tonga toast b/c i read all about it, and I just happened to stumble upon the stickey mickey) and I must say the tonga toast is waaaay too much in the morning. It's almost overpowering with sweetness. Maybe you could try it for a late afternoon snack instead.

And don't forget to bring back sticky mickey's for all of us to share!
