Tyler, I remember a few years ago WDW had buses that looked like a tractor trailer. What were they, any specs?, pictures? I never rode in one but they were huge and I only ever saw them a handful of times.

You're right Tyler!

Hi Tyler. You said it better than I! As I understand the situation, since NovaBus will be closing down both the Roswell, N.M. and Schenectady, N.Y. plants (its only plants in the USA), they will no longer be able to sell their buses in the USA without heavy import duties and/or quota restrictions. However they want to continue selling the low platform (kneeling) buses (Nova LFS) in the USA. Honda, Nissan, Toyota and others all have factories in the USA primarily so they can sell their cars in the USA without import restrictions. So the rumor is that NovaBus is going to open a new plant in New Mexico just before the other USA plants close for good. The new plant will be similar to the old Schenectady plant in that it will not built the buses from scratch but rather be a "final assembly" plant (i.e. they'll bolt in the seats or something like that). Also, they chose to stay in New Mexico because of the cheap labor market and corporate tax incentives offered by the state. Nothing set in stone yet. We'll have to wait and see.

Also, thank you for the previous information. I learned a lot!

LOL... Transportation is my life. (Sad, I know... lol)

As for the livery, back in the 70's, Disney used 30ft Twin Coaches, that were painted brown, with a light brown stripe. In 1980, when we got the RTS's, we went to a white bus, with a brown stripe that said, "WALT DISNEY WORLD TRANSPORTATION"

These ran until the mid 90's, when we came out with our new "Scribe" logo. Busses were slowly painted, and finally finished about a year or two ago. Originally, when the scribe logo came out, it was slightly different from what it is today. Originally, it was just the Disney script. Busses 2664 and 2665 illustrate this. (These busses are used exclusivly for cast shuttles and MK Break rooms) The "TRANSPORT" part was added initially as purple text, with no backgound. They also added a red mickey ears logo on the front. A few busses were painted with this logo. Disney soon changed it so the "TRANSPORT" part was yellow text with a purple background, for easier readability, and removed the mickey ears (Dont know why). The only bus that still has the original mickey ears livery is bus 2711.

The new Nova busses that we have received feature a smaller version of the current Disney Transport logo. In addition, bus 4815 features the Disney Transport logo on the rear engine hatch, as well as Mickey ears on the top two tail lights. It looks really nice. Why they didn't do this to the other busses, I don't know. On a side note, a lot of our RTS busses are receiving new engine hatches. These hatches feature LED tail lights, and the Disney Transport logo.

In addition to the scribe "Disney Transport" livery, up until recently we had a few "Purple Striper" busses. These busses were white, with a thick purple and thin red stripe down the side, and a small Disney Transport logo at the front. (26xx series) These busses were bought used, and used almost exclusivly for cast shuttles, and for training busses. Only three of these busses still exist, and they have been "Wrapped" and used for the Character Caravan.

WOW thanks for the info. can you suply any pics of these busses and example you just stated. also what I ment was you should be a supervisor or an exec with this level of knowledge

Ahhhhh yes, the "SuperBus"... Although it carried well over a hundred people (120-150), it was never well recieved by the guests. Can't imagine why. LOL... It was only used for park exits, and super busy times. And pretty much All Stars only.

As for specs, It was just a regular tractor... with a trailer that had the inside made like our busses, with seats and standing room. Often times, the driver would pick out a kid, and have him be the "Co-Driver"... he'd get to sit up front with the driver, and watch the lil monitor of the passenger compartment. The kids got a kick out of that.

As for my thoughts on the matter... Disney had the right idea... just wrong implementation. What they should have done was bought a bunch of Articulated busses instead. (Those are the "double long" busses with the accordian in the middle). They hold just as many passengers, with the "Cattle" feeling.

Logo's...

This is the Disney Transport logo.

Note that the RTS busses, and the Nova busses all have "Modified" versions of this logo. For some reason, on the busses, they put the purple block, and "Transport" up above...

Does WDW still have them?

I never rode them because I was with my parents (who did not want to ride in the back of a tralier) but we were going to the all star music and should have took it but we waited for a reg. bus to take us back.

Do you have pictures of it, inside and out?

And this is the original scribe logo. This logo is only found on 2711 now. My quick (read: poor) attempt at a mickey ears is found on the front of the bus.
