My WDW vacation is coming up soon and I wanted to do the Steam Trains Tour, but before I decide to do it I was wondering if anyone has done it before, and if it was good or not, please leave me any feedback if you have done this tour, thanks :)

I took my son on this tour year before last and he LOVED it! He wants to take his grandfather down there now to do it again! I thought it was a great tour as well.

Have done it and would HIGHLY recommend it !! Going back to the barn was worth the price alone. The enginears (get it) are great. They give you the history of all the engines, explain what the various whistles mean (long, short, multiple), and I even found out the origin of the term "real Mcoy". Keep in mind due to the starting time you may need to take a taxi to the Contemporary and then walk over. Well worth it. Hope this helps

I have taken this tour twice and both times relied in Disney Trasportation. You can check with the front desk of your hotel what time the eraly character breakfeast busses for the Magic Kingdom start running.

I took the tour when it was offered as a special learning opportunity for Cast Members. Even though I had to get up early in the bitterly cold morning and it was the day that we lost an hour of sleep due to Daylight Savings Time, it was absolutely worth it! Visiting the barn and learning the history of the railroad were both absolutely fascinating. If you are interested in the subject, you definitely must do this tour!

we did it fall '07 and loved it! a must for the train lover or just someone who would like to see more backstage. waited until the monorail did their morning checks at the TTC and rode it to MK. was even part of the one brake test on the way. was a little nervous when it went to poly and gf first, but we made it in time. also got to be the first in MK with no one but cast members still cleaning. free parking since no one was in the ticket booths.

We just booked this tour last week for our trip in October - we are taking my train mad dad as a surprise! Nice to hear all the positive comments.

I will also add that I'm not a rabid train fan, but I still found the tour to be incredible. I ended up booking the tour because a friend of mine is a huge fan of both trains and Disney, so I thought it'd be a nice treat. I thought I'd only kind of enjoy it because of the behind-the-scenes nature... but I was very surprised how much I loved it. They do a wonderful job weaving together how much of a connection there is between railroading and Disney. Even if you're just a Disney fan and could care less about trains, you'll leave completely satisfied and with a new-found knowledge of a lesser-known part of Disney history.

I've been meaning to get around to this tour someday. The next time I take my mom to WDW, I'm going to surprise her with the Steam Trains tour. Thanks for the reminder and accolades.

I dont know if...
A) He's still even doing it...
or
B) you'd have any way of finding out what day he's scheduled...

but if you can luck up and get Jack as your guide, you're in for a real treat. He helped originate the tour and reallllly knows his stuff. At the time, he told us he was only working on Thursdays.
