Yikes. Hope you guys pull through OK.

We're starting to see more trees and power lines down and we also will be under a curfew from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. I got to go out and video some stuff earlier (work at a newspaper and it's for our Web site) and I got nice and wet even with the precautions I took.

Just received cell coverage back on Tuesday afternoon. Then found a neighbor with a generator to charge phone. Still without power on Wednesday a.m.

The news is saying that this is the worst hurricane to ever hit Baton Rouge. All of my family & friends are fine. I have the downed trees cleaned up & a claim open with insurance for roof damage.

Thanks for praying us through this. Please keep prayong for return of electricity. school is out all week & the kids are going crazy.

I pray for a quick return of power for everyone affected. We evacuated to Gonzales, slightly NW of here(Metairie) and not in a flood area. Was without power there since Monday. Returned home today, and just got the power back in my home. Our family in Gonzales is still powerless. It's so bad, how miserable we get without the luxuries some peope never have, but it's how we've been accustomed. I lost my 3 yr. old reef aquarium, and I think my refrigerator is ruined. But other than that I lucked out this time. Thanks to all of those who were concerned abut us down here. I don't think I can take it anymore though. We may sell and get out of Dodge. I live 100 feet on the other side of a levee that broke for Katrina.

No I didn't "buy" a home here, I was born here and lived here for 37 years but enough is enough.

Geez, we got hammered here in Alexandria. The storm blew through on Monday and there were hundreds of trees downed, through roofs, power out just about everywhere, about six inches of rain. Two people died around here - one who was crushed by a falling tree and another who was electrocuted. Tuesday wasn't too bad, more rain. But last night and early Wednesday - OMG. Unbelievable rain. I was up on and off all night and found water almost in my house this morning. There were flash floods all over town and people had to be rescued. Fortunately, it appears that most of the water was receding by this afternoon.

Thanks to all who kept us in their thoughts and prayers. I'm not even wanting to think about the other three out there now.

Baton Rouge is tense now with limited food & gas. The power company is estimating that my power return in 5 to 7 days. As such, the family is taking an evacu-cation to the Sunshine State - beach not WDW.
It was so nice to drink ice water tonight. Can't wait to get some milk in the a.m.

Enjoy your Gustav-induced vacation, bradandsarabr! You deserve it.

The gas situation here is being to stabilize. Store shelves are pretty bare because so many people are having to restock their kitchens to replace spoiled food. On street after street, people are ripping up soaked carpets and putting ruined furniture on curbs. My son's school will be closed until further notice because it was flooded - computers, gym floor, books, supplies - all ruined.

I have fish in my front yard. This is not normal, but it is interesting to watch. :)

All in all, my family was so much luckier than many people around here. We came very close to flooding but didn't and we kept our electricity through all but the very height of the storm (I'm sure that's because we just bought a generator before Gustav arrived; we were without for a week after Rita).

Taken together, I am very much looking forward to next month's WDW vacation. :sohappy:

I didn't realize that Alec. had it so bad. Of course, the last I saw the storm on tv, it was just making landfall.

It is hard to believe that this is the 2d biggest storm to ever hit La. & the devastation that over a million people are facing & the story gets no national press. I guess a veep's kid's pregnancy sells more than fist fights for gas & bread with nursing home patients dying of heat stroke.

Bayoutink, have a great time next mo.
