I am sure that I am not alone in wishing all of those WDW posters or those who have family and friends in the path of Gustav our thoughts and prayers to safely ride this out.

Thanks much! I'm in Alexandria, and we're supposed to have hurricane-force winds by tomorrow night and up to 20 inches of rain.

Stay safe, y'all! :)

The wind & rain have started in BTR. Nothing too bad yet although some outlying areas of BTR have already lost power.

As BTR is in the storms path, it is not a shelter parish for those in south LA. Tonight the government opened up shelters in BTR for BTR residents. They were expecting 50 people at the shelter & 500 showed up.

I'lll try to keep an update as long as my home or phone have power.

i feel very sorry for the people of the gulf region, that is where our military should be now

Last I heard, the entire Louisiana National Guard had been activated last week to help with the evacuations. Pardon my bluntness, by the National Guard is part of our military!

I saw in my hometown paper from Illinois that the local National Guard up there was in the process of deploying to the Gulf Coast, too.

Its 7:30 a.m. & we still have power!!!!!
Light rain. Nothing too heavy during the night.
The winds are really picking up though. Right now they seem to be about 35 mph.

Thank you to all the wonderful people on this site for their hopes and prayers.
I live in Mobile Alabama and the weather here isn't too bad at 8am. I too hope and pray for the best in the others along the Gulf coast. Take care everyone during this storm and every other one that may effect anyone.

North Carolina's National Guard is on alert as well. Now, back to the topic, all of our thoughts and prayers are going out to everyone.

Still about the same in Baton Rouge at 9 a.m. We still have power. A birch tree in the front yard has been toppled. Fortunately, it fell away from the home.
