Stateroom location

How is the movement on the forward part of the ship? Rooms 7506 and 7512. I've only stayed aft.

In my experience the motion depends on the seas more than anything. I've enjoyed a more active ride in forward staterooms than mid or aft. Think of the difference in how you felt while in the Walt Disney Theater (forward) vs. midship or aft. Did you notice more movement there?

I definitely felt more movement when I stayed in a forward stateroom and I have stayed in all 3 areas. You can really feel the motion when you are in the WDT. We had such a rough cruise one time that one of the performers actually told us she felt sick. It didn't bother my daughter and I one bit though! LOL

They do have the non drowsy dramamine. I had the sea bands in case we needed them and we were fine. I used to get horrible car sickness when I was young and I still have issues sitting in the back seat but I have never had seasickness on any of my cruises.

I suffer from extreme motion sickness and equilibrium issues, while my wife does not. However, when we took our first cruise on the Fantasy in 2012, she was the one feeling urpy while I was just fine. We were in a forward stateroom, but she felt better in there than other places on the ship. We didn't feel it at all when laying down.

We quickly learned the trick of keeping our bellies full to help overcome the seasickness. Didn't have to tell me twice :D

You can always get her the patch that goes behind the ear. My wife uses it and it works better than any pill she has taken. It is prescription only though.
I don't know if they've got a patch for kids yet. When I looked into it a few years ago they weren't for kids. My boys being teens, tho, I'd have had no problem cutting a patch in half or thirds and slapping it on. :)

Ah, I figured 12 years old was okay to wear it.

As a mom I approach it by size of kid. Like my boys, the older at 12 was bigger in size so I wouldn't have worried as much as I would've for my youngest who was barely 100lbs at that age. To me its common sense when dosing your kiddos with anything but I also don't assume other folks are applying logic. Ya know? Juuuuust to err on the safe side and all. I recommend the patch if possible because its my impression it's the least invasive. I don't know, really. We've never used it. I think any sea sickness meds should be tried well ahead of vacation while you're at home to know how it affects you. I'd hate to spend a full day groggy on a 3-night cruise. Yikes!

Took my daughter on a cruise in January, she was 9 months at the time so no sea sickness meds for her. Well she did well until the last night when it was very rough. She got sick...in the dining room...all over me. :banghead:
I think the next time we will take her on one is when she can actually tell us (using words) that she is not feeling well. Maybe 2 1/2?

Word of warning: for both the boys being able to puke in the potty came around the time of potty training. Until then they would say they were going to yack but it often happened before we could get them to the bathroom. ;)

My daughter gets car sick too but surprisingly has never been sick on the cruises. I think it has to do with being inside on the ship and as long as you are not looking out you are fine. It's the whole your eyes are seeing one thing but your body is doing another. So as long as you are not looking out at the waves your mind is not confused.
