Before I start commenting please accept my apologies for responding so late to everyone!! Holidays, work, life & a Disney trip thrown in the mix tend to make life a bit busy!!
Wow Patti - I’ve always been impressed as it is by your morning walks and then all your walking in the parks but now even more impressed because I know someone with a similar pathology and she would never be able to do all the walking you do without ending up hobbling by the end of the day!
As usual, thanks for letting me tag along on your adventures
Oh, I hobble a ton. You should see me after a 9 hour work shift where I'm on my feet all day & have to dress "business casual" so tennis
shoes are out of the question!! R will see me getting out of the car after a work shift & he just shakes his head.
As usual, thanks for following along!!
Thank you!!
What I'm not proud of is my response time to everyone's comments!!
What a great report, thank you for sharing your continued adventures. Sorry to hear about your foot diagnosis.
Would it be a long time recovering from the type of surgery you will need. Hope it doesn’t interfere with you going to WDW. My sister can only wear Skecher sneakers and special insoles as one foot needs surgery in the future but they do help.
Thank you so much & thanks for following along!!
Yes--3 months of no weight bearing. I wouldn't be able to work much less go to WDW!! I'm going to do my best to keep putting it off as long as I possibly can!!
I had custom orthotics made for me but unfortunately they didn't help. I actually found a "dress shoe" that Skechers makes that I wear to work. They're cute & are the best shoe I've been able to find for work!!
Another trip in the books! Thanks for sharing as always and I hope everything goes ok with the foot!
Thank you so much & thanks for reading!! I truly appreciate it!!
I'm sorry about your foot. Did you go to a specialist to get all this figured out or was it just the family doctor? I've had issues with my foot for the last 6 months or so, and I went to my doctor and he wouldn't even refer me to anyone. He just told me it's probably because I am overweight and I should exercise more. But I CAN'T exercise because it hurts! I just wondered how you got your testing done.
Yes-I have an orthopedic/foot specialist I have been seeing for years. Since my mid 20's they have operated on my feet 5 times. They know me quite well, unfortunately!! I was born with my issue-in both feet. It does hurt to exercise but it actually feels better to me than working and being on my feet b/c I can wear tennis shoes while exercising!!
@riverside -- Excellent TR as usual !!! Enjoyed reading about all your adventures and photos.
P.S.: I hope your foot will be better soon. Seems like there are a few things that need fixing.
Thank you so very much!! I'm glad you enjoyed it!!
Right?? Just a few...
Bummer about the happy limo car service, that would make me mad too if they lied about forgetting me. I used quick silver once when we stayed at the Swan and I was pleased with their service.
Sorry to hear about your foot. I've been having a lot of foot pain since June and I'm finally getting it checked out this Thursday. I think, through my internet self-diagnosing that it is something with a ligament but I guess I will see what a real doctor thinks. I've been waiting until I didn't have another Disney trip lined up for awhile to get it checked out. I didn't want to be walking around a Disney park in a boot or even have to take a scooter.
Also sorry to hear about the jury duty. I had to serve one time in January and it snowed every single day I had to report and I am not a confident driver in the snow. Our school district doesn't count any jury duty days against or sick/personal days. But if we have to serve on a jury we have to turn any money we are paid for jury duty (minus driving expenses) over to the district to pay for our sub.
Yes--I was really irritated with them!!
Is your foot doing better?? I hope
Yeah, a boot would be tough. They are so heavy & cumbersome. And I don't know if I would trust myself with a scooter!!
It took me 3 tries to pass my driver's license test!!
Awesome report but,
TELL ME YOU DON’T KEEP YOUR BANANAS IN THE FRIDGE!!!
Yes-as you well know "hot mess express" pretty much sums my life up!!
Yes--to get them to ripen you keep them at room temperature. Once they are ripe they should go into refrigeration & they will last longer.
I was gonna say something, but then I thought maybe @riverside knows a grocery store trick about bananas.
After 30 years I better!!
I was wondering about this too, so did some googling. Per the Dole website, bananas can be stored in the fridge, but should be ripe already (or they won’t ripen). Also the cold turns them brown but they’re still okay. Who knew!
Pretty much sums it up!!
I always LOVE your TR's and this one was no exception!!! It's so nice that your family enjoys traveling together to WDW! We did the Epcot fireworks cruise in December 1999 but have never experienced the MK one. The fun facts that they tell you on these cruises are even more enjoyable than the fireworks as far as I'm concerned. The Happy Limo service was not so happy and that is a stressor that you don't need at the end of a long trip! Glad you all made it there in one piece and with a bit of time to spare. Ugh, feet issues are sooo painful, but you were certainly a trooper walking around the parks with that kind of issue! I hope the surgery brings some relief whenever you decide to have it done. I can't wait for you to start your next TR!!! As always, thank you for sharing your adventures with us!!!
Thank you very much!!
I'm so glad we were able to reschedule the fireworks cruise. It was really neat!!
I was afraid we weren't going to make it in one piece with as fast as he was driving!! It was downright scary at times!!
With the recovery being so lengthy I want to put it off as long as possible. Not being able to do anything for that long will drive me crazy. Then again, maybe I can catch up on my TR's. I have 2 to do now!!
I’m so behind on others trip reports and I think I have given up on ours from April. I have a nice 6 hours car ride. I loved reading about J and his fantastic aunt ( you’re the best!). So sorry about the foot. I’m sure it’s extra difficult with how active you tend to be. Can’t wait to read the next adventure!
Thanks so much!! I love writing them but finding time is so tough!! How do you find time esp. having kids?
It is pretty bothersome but I just have to deal with it until I can't take the pain anymore!!
I don't know why I never started reading this until the other day! Sorry you got 12 pages worth of "like" notifications from me
I had thoughts throughout, but of course now I've forgotten most of them.
I hate that J started the trip with an upset stomach! Sounds like it really was some kind of fluke, so at least it didn't last long and the rest of you stayed well. I've also caught puke in my hands, and I definitely never want to do it again. Thankfully we were at home! I totally freeze up in those moments.
Also thought the Gideon's cold brew was MUCH too sweet! When I got it, we were staying in an off-site villa and I'd bought some Dunkin plain cold brew for the trip. I ended up splitting the gideon's stuff up and cutting it with the plain stuff to make it drinkable. The flavor is great, just too sweet.
Also, thanks for sharing the Happy Limo story cause I was thinking about using them this year. The lying is definitely not ok, I agree, that would tick me off too. Honestly we may rent a car now that they've dropped the resort parking fee again.
It's all good!! Thanks for reading!!
That was a rough start for sure!! I guess it was an instinctive reaction. It was better to do that then get more on the floor. I know he would have been really embarrassed if there was an even bigger mess. Speaking of freezing up--that was R. He looked like a deer in headlights. He's been an elementary school principal for years. This can't be the first time that he has witnessed this!!
Yes--the cold brew definitely was!! That's a great idea! I'm not a huge fan of sweet things to begin with but that sounds like it would make it much better!!
I ended up booking them super last minute the other day for my brother. We were all scheduled for The Sunshine Flyer to take us to the airport Monday evening(9:45 flight). He was being picked up at 5:30. Flight kept getting delayed & delayed & delayed. So I cancelled it & got him Happy Limo. No need to sit at the airport all those hours. Since I cancelled within 72 hours of the flight they won't give me my money back but I can use it toward a future trip so that's not too bad!!
