Um...well, it was kind of a few different reasons...it's kind of hard to put into words, so I'll try...

1. I'm my own personal self...
2. I was born with my name...I don't see why I should have to give it up just b/c I'm married to someone else. He doesn't have to give up his.
3. I didn't want to deal with the hassles that go with changing my name.
4. My mom didn't change hers.
5. My name means something in my town...people know my family and if I had a different last name, it would be that extra step to describe.
6. I'm selfish...(I can see Joe picking up on that one right now...oh wait...he's gotta be nice to me...:D )

Me not doing it doesn't mean I don't love my husband...it just means that I'm myself and I'm not going to change for anyone but me. He had to take me as I am. Just as I had to have done with him. Which we have both now done...almost 2 years now.

I thought about hypenating, but that didn't sound right.

The thing that I find the most interesting, and I think a main reason why I did it is b/c you don't automatically recognize the person anymore after they get married. You wouldn't believe the number of times I've seen people get married on Facebook and I've had to go...Ok...now who was that? Just so I know who that is now. You loose yourself when you change your name and that's not what I wanted.

Oh, okay. I never thought it would mean you didn't love your husband, I was just asking. :o

I'm pretty confident I'm my own person as well, even though I did take DH's last name. :lookaroun But then again his name is a lot easier to say and spell than my maiden name.

Well, that and his name didn't sound right next to mine...it's German...and for a German last name, you need a more structured, common sounding first name. Mine is no where near common sounding, so it just sounded really silly next to it. :lol:
