Star Wars Weekends 2014

A few Sunday notes. Saw Ashley being escorted by security after her show. She did not look happy.

The theme has been, join the rebellion. The Empire fans are resisting and some of the stars seem frustrated. Or just acting and having fun with it.

Really enjoyed the new voice actress from Rebels. She even got a bit emotional. After seeing Ahmad Best I no longer hate Jar Jar. He was fun. Nice tribute to Peter Mayhew and his 70th birthday. Who were the guys with the metallic badges letting their friends in the back door?

Darth Vader being escorted by a CM handler? Bad show. Get those stormtroopers off patrol.

Star Tours was closed late afternoon. Don't know what happened.

The reserved area was worth every penny. My only complaint was that the stage was in the way during fireworks but there was room to move to the left side for a better view. CMs did a great job with this Sunday.

I enjoyed the opening show. I won't give anything away either. Nothing to get excited about but it was fun.

Crowd was not bad but it was Sunday. Head was on the pillow by 11.

Slightly off topic but something I noticed ... Did anyone else notice the Neon on exterior of the Tower of Terror not working during this past weekend's SWW?

So was it worth the cash?

Any other details would be appreciated. My wife wants to know about the drinks.

Can't help on the drinks, I'm not a big drinker and by the time I got into the area for the fireworks viewing, I just wanted a cold soda and a bottle of water. As I was solo I had to go and grab my snacks and drinks quick as soon as I got in and then go grab my spot, so I wasn't able to peruse the bar or snack area as much as I normally would have otherwise. I'm sure someone else can fill in the details on the drinks.

I got the spot that I wanted for fireworks, that I had been scouting during the parade. The spot I wanted for the fireworks was against the rope on the street side, and in the very back against the railing/TV camera podium. That way I was almost straight on and not off to the side, and back far enough that the stage didn't block too much of the fireworks. It turned out to be a great spot, was very pleased. And it's funny, the guy that was standing just on the other side of the rope from me was saying to his wife (intentionally loud enough for me to overhear) Hey, if we had $50 we could be on the standing on the other side of that rope! Which is true, we weren't far off from each others' spots. But he was crowded in on all sides by people and I had quite a nice amount of space around me, and drinks and snacks provided, and I could lean back against the railing, which was nice. So to me it was definitely worth it.

To get the spot I wanted, I did make sure to get in line early before they started letting folks in for the fireworks viewing. I walked by at 8:30 and a lot of people had started to line up already so I jumped in line. So if you want to get one of the tables or make sure you don't get stuck under a tree, definitely don't wait until the last minute to go into the viewing area.

Thats how she always seems to be. Her husband tho, Nice guy.

I'm not a fan either.

We must have been in the same "Rebels" showing. Agreed with JarJar. No idea who you mean about the badges and the back.

Darth Vader being escorted by a CM handler? Bad show. Get those stormtroopers off patrol.

Seems to vary depending on who is onstage. Ive seen Vader escorted by Stormtroopers but Ive always seen him have a handler no matter what.

Saturday, I watched a foreign family of about 10 bum-rush Vader late in the evening as he was walking to set (and screwing up my photo).... Its in everyone's best interest that the Dark Lord of the Sith have someone to help, just in case.

Star Tours was closed late afternoon. Don't know what happened.

Missed that. I went off property for lunch.

Sunday was the lightest day of all.

She's usually pretty happy. She likes to meet her fans. Met her a couple years ago super sweet. Her husband was awesome too.

Nice tribute to Peter Mayhew and his 70th birthday.

My kid thought we were going to all get a piece of that Millenium Falcon cake.

The celebs this weekend whipped through autographs like crazy. We had wristbands for Ahmed Best, but we were able to walk up to everyone else including PM with no line or wait.

Only complaint is the Mall. It's too small this year, very crowded, longer waits to get in and it has to close early.

My experience has been the same. She actually approached us at WL a couple of years ago to talk to my daughter who was wearing one of here "Her Universe" shirts. She is a seriously nice woman and very fan friendly.

That being said, everyone can have a bad day.

Hope she is staying at WL this year. will be at WL for 11 nights including the last SWW. Seems to be one of those stars who is very friendly and down to earth.

Slightly off topic but Tower of Terror got stuck right before the drop while we were inside. Saw backstage and surprisingly some guest was filming and they didn't stop him.

But we went to the first day of Star Wars Weekends. It was crazy but crowds seemingly stayed near the Star Wars lines. Wait was 80 minutes for both Aerosmith and Toy Story...thank god we had a fastpass. Watched the fireworks from Hollywood Vine area. Amazing view and amazing fireworks. The grand finale felt like the ground was shaking. I love Star Wars so the parade was like all other years but I would never wait in the 40 hour lines for the Mall (which I thought had nothing in it to buy) and the characters.

But as someone who knows nothing beyond the movies....I have no clue who the recent people are.

Just to clarify, at an event aimed at children, adults are booing the fictional heroes and cheering the fictional villains?

Yeah, David was always one of the "good guys" in MLB. Miss seeing him on the field as he always played hard and always found time for the fans. Interesting that it appears that after last playing in 2010, he's gone to work for Her Universe.

Thanks for the heads-up on the autograph situation. Did you have the standby FP's or did they litteraly allow you to walk up? In prior years, they wouldn't allow us to get a signature unless we had at least a standby FP, even if there were few people in the line. What time did you get there for the wristband?

@kennygman ran a pretty negative review of the parade portion of the Feel the Force Premium package at his blog.

He's scheduled to review the fireworks section today. Based on his comments, it doesn't sound like he would recommend the package. The way he describes it, it hardly sounds worth the hefty price tag.

I'm inclined to agree with him. I didnt pay for the package but based on observations, its an issue for both parade & fireworks.

Also, its a hillarious review. He's spot on about Operations CMs whom seem to just get in the way. Granted, they are generally there to keep the crowd from edging a millimeter over the tape but nine out of ten times, theyre just enjoying the parade.

As for the fireworks? The dessert party area is probably the absolute worst view of the fireworks in the park, IMO. You're too close and the stage blocks the fireworks.

Of course, the people paying $500 for a VIP tour guide, reserved seating at shows, etc., they get the same spot for the fireworks & parade. Could you imagine paying not just $60 a person ($35 for kids) but $500 a person ($500 for kids) and getting those views? Either way, its some bulllllllllcrappy.

No I can't.

I'm seriously reconsidering my $170 investment. The entire point of making the purchase was that I didn't want to have to wait an hour for a decent view of the parade. Now it sounds like I still need to wait an hour but I get a Mickey bar for my troubles. You have to be kidding me.
