this series actually looks like money was spent on it, which is a good thing.
That's the magic of the volume. The L.A. based productions (Mando, Boba, Ahsoka, Skeleton) utilize the volume and try to keep everything on campus. The U.K. based productions go on location and build massive sets. Both have certain pros and cons, but the L.A. approach gets a whole lot more bang for the buck (those shows were cheaper and yet grander in scope)

The stylized skull/throne seems to be that of a Weequay- the same race as Hondo. You can tell by the spikes around the chin. I hope Hondo is in this. Perhaps this is the treasure of an ancient Weequay king- a descendant of Hondo.

Also seeing a lot of talk about Neil and his species. I'm pretty sure he's meant to be a mix of Ortolan (Maximillian Rebo) and humanoid. This would account for his extra limbs, hair, and eyes.

Yeah I hope we see Hondo in this series too

Why you don't like Major Tom from the 80s?
I'm as big of an 80s synth fan as there is. Hence my user name. But as much as I like major tom, I don't think it really works for star wars. It totally works for what they are emulating here. They are really pushing the Amblin/goonies/stranger things 80s vibe. I'm not sure why? I would think they would push, I don't know, a star wars vibe? It might very well end up being total star wars. It's just kind of curious in my opinion.
we need a revival of 80s synth pop.
Hey, it has never really left. If you need some recommendations, I've got tons of them. There's a lot of bands that never left, erasure, pet shop boys, omd, alphaville... To more modern stuff like intuition, eloquent, neuropa... It might not be main stream anymore, but it's still there.

Feels pretty "Star Wars" to me while still leaning into other vibes. I don't need Star Wars to be a one-note franchise. I like they've been willing to take risks and branch off into other genres that evoke different vibes.

I'm talking about a main stream revival. We had a revival of many genres over the last 20 years in main stream, but 80s synth pop just hasn't broken through. And I'd like for that to change.

Giachino is doing the score, honestly one of the best hopes at emulating both Star Wars Williams and E.T. Williams.
I hope it is all Michael Giacchino and there isn't any 80s synth music in it. I'd totally buy the album if it is just Giacchino. That would be like putting modern pop hits in Willow. Oh wait...

Star Wars happen a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. How did they get 80s sync music from Earth? It is part of the story in Guardians of the Galaxy. Here it isn't. I hope they aren't making that same mistake twice.

At it's core, it should feel star wars. And as I said, it might be. You can hit different notes and still keep it star wars. Using a very recognizable 80s song makes it to real world in my opinion. Mando gave us a very different style of music, and it worked. If they used the good the bad and the ugly theme every time mando came on screen, not great.

I really believe this will have a very standard sound track. I don't see them throwing in a one night in Bangkok or the sun always shines on tv in there. The funny part is they're working this as a nostalgia play. Will it be a smart move? Time will tell. I just don't think it's necessary.

How did you feel about Lapti Nek?

I grew up with Lapti Nek and prefer it to Jedi Rocks. They both have the proper Star Wars feel to them just like the singer in Solo does or the music in Canto Bight. Like the Cantina band, they have that jazz-blues thing in it.
