Star Wars: Rogue One

In the time between Episode 3 and 4 it seems that the Force has become almost a myth to most people so it probably won't play a big part in Rogue One, although there is at least one character show seems to still follow the ways of the force.
I was thinking more about this. What happened to all of the Jedi before that time? Is it shown in any of the movies?

Sorry for these questions..I just don't remember, or maybe never paid attention.

Man I can't wait to see Vader do his saber throw and decapitate some rebel scum!

Movie looks great!

And i believe the movies will be releasing in this order:
2016:Rogue One
2017:Episode 8
2018:Han Solo
2019:Episode 9

How can the Jedi have already become myths when only 18? years have passed since the purge? Gone into hiding, wiped out, yes but people never believing they existed? Seems weird for the major planets to believe this.
It's a major plot hole in the series and is one of those things that demonstrates how it was not some grand, singular vision as Lucas loves to say. The guy who makes the quip to Vader in Star Wars about his "sad devotion to that ancient religion" would have been old enough to remember the Jedi being everywhere.

In the old EU it was explained away as the Empire locking down all information and purging those even associated with the Jedi and the fact that the galaxy is made up of tens of thousands of planets and there were only a few thousand Jedi, therefore they weren't as prolific and "famous" as we think they were.

Grain of salt and all that.

If you read some of the earlier old EU works you can tell the authors just assumed that it had been at least 40 or 50 years since the Empire came to power.

I REALLY like the new trailer. It got me really jacked for the movie. "I fear nothing. All is, as the force wills it." That was awesome. I'm not sure they needed a droid that spouts off statistics on mission success, we have 3po already. But I like the edge he has when he says I will not kill you. Overall, pretty awesome.

The toys associated with the new movies are very disappointing when compared to the late 70s and 80s. I have not been impressed.
I agree when it comes to the millennium falcon and fighters, but I have to say that the programmable R2D2, BB8, and voice activated Yoda are pretty darn cool. I was worried when I bought them, but happy once we added the million D batteries and saw what they did. ;)

Back then.... there were a lot more action figures and vehicles. I have seen very little in stuff to actually play with, with the new movies. We actually acted out scenes with our stuff outside in the sandbox. Everything now is geared toward collecting and display it seems.

I wish I took better care of my figures when I was a kid. I used to lose some in the snow while playing empire strikes back. had to wait for spring to find them. :hilarious:
You an me both. Even a faction of my collection from the 70's would buy me a new car.

Quite a few met the business end of a BB gun or got lost in the sand box.

Actually I do have all of my vintage star wars stuff from the 70's. A Lot of the stuff from the 70's isn't worth more than modern stuff is now. It really depends on which figures and variations you have and what cards they are on. For example, the last wave of power of the force stuff is worth more than original star wars figures unless they are variations. A vinyl cape jawa is worth a lot more than a cloth one. Blue Snaggletooth is worth much more than red Snaggletooth, etc. The Droid and Ewoks cartoon stuff sells pretty well. It all depends on finding a buyer. I think the only things that have not gone up in value are the Episode 1 stuff. That stuff is the junk of Star Wars collecting.

And I have quite a bit of that as it was the last year I collected. I purchased a house the year after Episode 1 released and my discretionary spending budget took quite a hit.:)

WARNING: slight thread drift.

I had a ton of the 70's and 80's toys also. Good times. Most of these were lost to father time and my dads snapper lawn mower. They re-released the original trilogy when I was in my early twenties, so I started collecting the figures and keeping them pristine on the cards. I ended up keeping them in storage. A few years back when my son was about 5, I showed him my collection. I explained to him how "important" it was to keep them packaged, keep the card nice and flat, etc. His 5 y.o. mind just couldn't grasp that. After some thought ( about 2 years, haha), I decided to let my son have my collection.

We had the BEST time opening all the figures and playing together on his bedroom floor. We swapped weapons of the figures. We had stormtrooper only battles. Jedi battles. Imperial Guard vs Bounty hunter battles. Droids vs Skywalker family battles. Luke with only Ewok spears vs IG88 and the Modal Nodes.

Best thing I ever did. For a few weeks I was 9 again. After a few weeks, the figures ended up in a couple of buckets in my sons closet. We still get them out ever so often. No regrets.
