Back then.... there were a lot more action figures and vehicles. I have seen very little in stuff to actually play with, with the new movies. We actually acted out scenes with our stuff outside in the sandbox. Everything now is geared toward collecting and display it seems.

For the adult Star Wars junkies, not for the kids. Like I said, those adults made my life hell at Christmas. 90% of the reviews of items were written by grown men, and said items were sold out everywhere.

My son does have the original millennium falcon (was my brothers) and a few other fighters and vehicles from back then. But most of the new stuff he has is the 3.75" figures- those little jerks took me a month to find all of them, and then Poe's fighter, new tie fighters, and the Rae stuff. The only things that could probably become collectibles are the BB8, R2D2, and Yoda, but he plays with them. I'm an anti clutter fanatic, so I can't imagine ever purchasing something to keep boxed up.lol

Wow. Does that ever bring back some memories. I used to love going to Rose's with my mom and coming home with at least one new figure.
That pic is awesome! Thanks for sharing!

In the old EU it was explained away as the Empire locking down all information and purging those even associated with the Jedi and the fact that the galaxy is made up of tens of thousands of planets and there were only a few thousand Jedi, therefore they weren't as prolific and "famous" as we think they were.

Grain of salt and all that.

If you read some of the earlier old EU works you can tell the authors just assumed that it had been at least 40 or 50 years since the Empire came to power.

The Clone Wars series also fills this in somewhat. By the end of that series they show the public already starting to turn against and mistrust the Jedi.

The second picture is from Star Wars: Rogue One - Special Edition. They also made Ben Mendelsohn's character yell, "NOOOOOO!" when Felicity Jones's character steels the Death Star plans.

Let me see if I can help out....

Rogue One is the story of how the Rebels stole the plans for the original Death Star. These were the same plans that Leia hid in R2-D2 at the beginning of the first Star Wars movie Episode 4 "A New Hope". From a continuity standpoint, Rogue One would be something like Episode 3.8.

At this time in Star Wars history, the Jedi are all but extinct, but the character pictured below is what is refereed to as "force sensitive". They can sense and use to force to a degree, but are not a full fledged Jedi.

Rebels takes place immediately following Episode 3 "Revenge of the Sith" call it Episode 3.2. There are still a few Jedi left at this point following the purge known as "Order 66" that took place in Episode 3. The story lines in this series a centered around the remaining Jedi and the formation of the Rebellion.

Lastly, Yes you will have a new fleet of Star Wars toys to by this Christmas and every Christmas flowing for the foreseeable future.

Just went back to read this comment. I am definitely going to go back and watch the first 3 with kiddo.

He hasn't seen more than maybe 2 episodes of Star Wars Rebels, we just don't have any time for tv shows during the school year. Will he understand the movie without that background?
