I'm not one to freak out over COVID but this is ridiculous.

Don’t worry Di$ney is concerned for your safety.

Being is this mass of people is completely safe and acceptable since once indoors everyone will be masked.

Outdoor transmission is basically zero. The only significant documented cases of outdoor transmission came from Singaporean construction sites, which weren't ACTUALLY outdoors.

So if we are standing in a giant mass of people and someone with covid starts to cough it’s impossible to catch it?

This is not a normal situation.

People are not usually packed this close together outdoors.

As predicted by me, this was a huge Dub for Slinky Dog rope-droppers.
Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway is the correct answer. It's far superior to Slinky Dog and at least slightly better than Rise. Given what Touring Plans predicts for the lines today, Rise looks a lot better in the afternoon (assuming it stays in operation).

Runaway Railway absorbs crowds much better, and it has a way better queue than Slinky. I agree that it's much better than Slinky, but assuming you want to do both, Slinky is the one that's more important to ride early.

Okay, how about this? Looking at that insane crowd, I'd rather go back to the VQ.
That insane crowd isn't new and has nothing to do with Rise or the VQ. Three weeks ago, I stood in that exact same "insane crowd," except we were standing near the arch of Animation Courtyard getting ready to be led to Slinky Dog Dash.

The "insane crowd" is just how rope drop works. The only thing Rise-specific is how far back they position the rope.
